They just need to get rid of bad habits like pb[slowly changing the entire 5-man unit[/b] while the other team has the puck, or defensemen pinching in at all the wrong times.

I thought it was strange last game when the versus announcer said that the Wings were the best line changing team in the NHL.

I was like....uhhhhhhhhhhhh...huh?

Zetterberg Datsyuk Holmstrom

Franzen Filppula Williams

Just saying...

Agreed! Please Babs, do it!

And apparently Leino's goal was a beauty. Put me down on the list of people who didn't want him traded, exspecially not for freaking OKT.

Our playoffs hope have NOT died tonight, especially since a miracle comeback still isn't out of the question.

A comeback would mean this team has guts. this team has no guts.

A comeback would mean a consistent defensive game would be played so as to keep Vancouver off the scoreboard AND that would create opportunities going from defense to offense. This team hasn't been consistent all year long and seems content to go side to side in the neutral zone instead of forward with speed.

A comeback would mean they actually get to the net with the puck and put home their chances. By a pure fluke, I'm sure, this has happened once tonight. I'm sure they won't repeat that one again :P

Just to put a positive spin on it and all :D

I told you guys.

Go back and read my posts and you'll clearly see that I didn't want to see him traded.

Another mistake by Holland.

Let's not go crazy. 1 goal does not equal mistake. Brunnstrom scored a hat-trick in his first NHL game, what has he done since?

But at the same time, I was sad when Holland let Leino go. This team is seriously lacking in scoring depth. Miller/Eaves/Helm/Draper are all 4th liners. That's too many 4th liners in the lineup at the same time. Leino is slow and soft but with Filppula on a 3rd line I think he would be able to do more than we are seeing Miller doing right now.

Do you guys understand now why I damn near had an aneurysm when Holland refused to do jack s*** today?

I really think that they've all but thrown in the towel on this year. It's not as if they're not going to do all they can to win and make a run of it, but with so little cap space and elevated deadline pricing, perhaps it made more sense to Holland to wait until the off-season to unload anyone we'd have to unload to get anyone worthwhile. We have guys we could and probably should move, but your options are extremely limited with no cap space. Everything's gotta be dollar for dollar which is tricky and again, limiting.

So basically, I'm not surprised or really upset that nothing happened today. But admittedly, it's becoming harder and harder to care about this season every day, so I don't think about it much.

Now, if he doesn't shake this team up and address some of the glaring scoring/chemistry issues this team has in the off-season, then I'll probably have an aneurysm. There'll be no excuse for standing by idly when they've got more cap space to play with and a crap season to reflect upon.

But somehow even that wouldn't shock me at this point...

Right, because Leino was lighting it up before he was let go.

Sorry, but I strenuously disagree with this.

I was really surprised to see him go. You'd think they'd at least wait until camp to see if he learned anything from this year and addressed some weaknesses in the off-season. I don't think he was given a fair shot generally either with so much pressure being put on him in his rookie year. He was a good call-up and suddenly he's expected to become a big offensive contributor because we lost so many FA's in the off-season. In my opinion, that's just a bit too much to put on most rookies.
