russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted March 6, 2010 Todd Bertuzzi is a streaky guy. That was the fact I used to state I didn't like the signing when it happened. I was worried he would be hurt and never hit the hot streak. All of his season scoring always seems to come in 2-3 spurts. He will probably have one more before the season is over, and end with very respectable statistics for a 1.5 million dollar forward.

Mors 201 Report post Posted March 6, 2010 As soon as Bertuzzi got some chemistry going with Datsyuk he was moved off his line...seems kinda obvious.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted March 6, 2010 I'm just tired of his lazy one handed swipes at the puck. And those horrible drop passes of his. His whole style is just starting to piss me off.

Because Babcock seems to think juggling lines every game is a great idea to develop chemistry.
TheDetroitRedWings 286 Report post Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) I'm not too worried about Bert's production. He'll serve as being just another role player to help the overall goal of winning. We had so many injuries before that we leaned on and relied on Bertuzzi a lot more. He was given more responsibilities and ice time and with that he was producing. But now that we're back to being healthy, he's back to what his original role was suppose to be, just a role player. That's the major reason he's dropped off. I imagine if he was getting 20 min a game again, he would go right back to regularly showing up on the score sheet. Definitely nothing to worry about. At least he hasn't been a liability out there. Then I would be worried. Edited March 6, 2010 by TheDetroitRedWings
skyphoenix 153 Report post Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) We could really use Bertuzzi actually trying in these games. He's back to looking like he did at the beginning of the season. I know he's a streaky player and I know he's already helped us a lot but he's playing 2nd line minutes with Zetterberg and Cleary and he needs to step it up a bit. He was a -1 last night in a game we won 5-2. Edited March 6, 2010 by skyphoenix
Mors 201 Report post Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) Because Babcock seems to think juggling lines every game is a great idea to develop chemistry. I guess Babcock figures it will inspire a better work ethic if he's demoted to the 3rd line, unfortunately the best I saw Bertuzzi play last night was when there were a few incomplete line changes and he ended up on the ice with Datsyuk again. I'd rather see Bertuzzi on a line with Dats and Franzen consistently but it won't happen. In the long run it's hard to complain about a guy who has still managed to stay in the top 5 scoring for $1.5 million, and he hasn't missed a game all season (I think?) chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted March 6, 2010 What the hell has happened to this guy? He was our best player earlier this season and now he looks disinterested. Is he injured, is he a guy that only steps up when others are hurt, or is he just plain lazy and sucky? Honestly, I can't believe how quickly he went from being awesome to being invisible out there. I know he assisted in this game, but he just has no scoring touch anymore. He was never awesome. He looked like he was but we were comparing him to guys like Abby and May and Maltby who are not goal scorers. Bert is at best a 3rd line player.

Bert is at best a 3rd line player. He had 8 goals and 12 points in 8 games, and single handedly won us 3 games. Give the guy some credit. He is one of the best values on this team. Seriously, he is a streaky scorer, and if hits a hot steak come playofftime, he could be the difference between some of the more stacked teams.
