Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted April 25, 2010 (edited) Abdelkader is doing great, and as a former Victory Honda guy myself(f*** YOU CARMAN LOL), I couldn't be happier =) He's having a good game, and I've really seen a lot more of his offensive upside int he past few games then I did in the regular season. He plays a lot like Doan was, perhaps maybe down the road he could be a better/bigger version of Cleary/Doan Light? 15-20 goals, 40-45 points a season and 7-8+ fights all while being defenseivily responsible? I always wished I was a 90 like you so I could have some fun with Patty Kane, though Dean Chelios was kinda a prestige hit. After I fought him, his dad came in our locker room and asked if I was the kid who fought his son, and after answering he patted me on the shoulder and said "good fight". When was the last time he did anything with it? He is soft and scared and thinks he's above risking his body for the team, and his attitude is far too common on this team. Bert could be a monster again if he'd just decide too. Lids is doing his quiet old "lead by example" thing, but if you aren't the best at what you do, you better include some noise and passion in your game. I'm not even that PO-ed at Bert for not making big hits, but good LORD the man likes to throw away good opportunities. Gator can hit as well as make big plays. I don't mind Lids just playing clean and staying cool, but where's our dang grind line? We need some guys to do the Yzerman thing, but we also need some guys to do the McCarty thing. And I don't know what Franzen's problem is...he started getting ticked and making some hits a couple of games ago but got some bonehead penalties for it, and it's like that disheartened him, so he backed off again. The first fight he didn't really have a chance since he was jumped from behind, but I thought it was great how he whipped out his awesomeness for the second fight. newfy 695 Report post Posted April 25, 2010 Gotta love someone that can send a message. If we had two abdelakders on this team the face of this team would be so different. Abdelkader hits like a train, fights(starting this season, so he'll get better) and I tihnk has shown that he's gonna be a legit top 6 winger. If we had him and a guy like Drake or an enforcer in the bottom 6 this team would be alot harder to play against. I'm glad to see someone on this team doesn't take losing lying down. I remember now, it was everyone else on the board saying that during the draft and me saying Abby was the better pick. You're bragging would have been much more effective last year. After the trade to Minnesota, Latendresse had a breakout year offensively. But, Abby's still better in pretty much every other facet of the game though. I just don't think he'll be a 25 goal scorer in this league. On the contrary, Crymson, I am more reminding the board that just because a guy is a big Canadian winger from the junior leagues does NOT make him the best pick, and just because a guy is from the NCAA doesn't mean he's not a good pick. While this is true, and Abdelkader has been a force out there, 30 out of 30 NHL GM's would take Latendresse over him the way both played this season. Of course, hindsight is 20-20 and he did nothing in Montreal, but you cannot discount his almost 40 goal pace with the Wild this year.
