Datsyuk and Zetterberg

We have relatively the same team as in '08 ... when dats and z were paired together and dominated. I know that the last few years they havent been so dynamic when put together for brief periods, however I think that if there is an effort to have them on the top line from the start - with about a 15 game trial/gelling period, the wings will be a better team. I think the 2nd line can hold its own, while providing a top line that can shut down opposing top lines as well as adding offense.

What do you think?

Totally agree.

If they were paired up right from training camp I definitely think they'd find their chemistry again. You can't split them up for a a year and a half and then throw them on the same line for the last 5 minutes of a must-win game and expect them to tear s*** up.

They need some time together, without that pressure of having to create magic out of thin air.

Personally I'd love to see it. I don't think Babs will do it because he thinks it's a waste to have two of the best centermen in the game on the same line, and while that is a fair point I think it's also a waste to not take advantage of the way they can dominate games if they're on the same line. Depth is great and all, but I kinda want the Wings to once again have a line that makes opponents go "oh s***".

Yep. Pretty much what I've been harping on ever since the beginning of 2009.

Babs thinks that he can put Pav and Z together anytime he wants. The hard part about it is that it's true, but only if they build and establish that chemistry early on. Build that foundation early and you'll always have that weapon in your arsenal.

I don't see any reason a second line of Huds-Fil-Franzen can't succeed. Given the talent and experience of those players, there's just no excuse for anything but production at this point. Obviously Z-D-H has worked in the past and I can't imagine it would slow down much if any if they were put together from the start.

That being said, there is still merit to Babs splitting them up...now especially with Hudler in the mix.

All hangs on if Homer and or Bert return - glad to have Hudler back..

I'm inclined to just say "or" rather than "and".

Z-D-H/Cleary

Huds-Fil-Franzen

is =

Z-D-Cleary/Bert

Huds-Fil-Franzen

Should be more or less =

Franzen-D-H/Cleary/Fil

Huds-Z-Cleary/H/Fil

All these are great but were is Williams supposed to go?......... Oh wait he sucks balls and won't be resigned. No really I have thought this from 09 too, fil could hold his own on a second line with mule and huds. That line would actually be pretty dominate from what I've seen with Huds and fil. Throw mule and there and good things may happen. The only thing is what would the third line look like?

If Pav and Z are going to be on the PP together then I hope the 2nd unit is Huds, Fil and Mule. It's not as skilled as the Huds, Z and Mule unit from 08-09 but I feel like it has a similar format and can be pretty good.

Im STILL pushing for a line 2 of BERTUZZI-FLIPPULA-FRANZEN, this line will score alot of goals and has great size. As for Line 1 I think Dats and Z should be together for sure as our line 2 would be great but who is on there wing? I think Hudler would be awesome, the sheer playmaking ability of that line would be Fantastical. Not to mention all 3 have pretty good one timers :yowza: As for Holmer, as much as I love him if he is not just a PP specialist I would like to let him go. Lines 3 and 4 are both pretty set, just need to see who's name is there lol we have alot of great 3rd and 4th liners. We just need that scary 1-2 combo. (which I strongly feel we achieve with these 2 lines)

PS: Am I the only one who thinks Holmstroms 2.3(or whatever it is) could be used to pick up a great offensive player? We could get Afinogenov straight up or by not signing say Bert we could throw a pretty good deal at Marleau...just sayin

I agree with it. Put them together right out of the cage. Training camp all the way on down. We've all whitnessed their success together. They totally compliment one another in every aspect of the game. They are a dynamic duo that shouldn't be split apart; only in drastic measures. With Hudler coming back and and a healty Franzen, there isn't any reason why the top two lines cannot be really solid, with the first having these two guys together.

All in all, yes put them together off the get go.

If you want to establish chemistry start it from the very beginning - at Traverse. I'll be there to watch it if it unfolds - what fun! :D

The only problem is that it takes Filppula forever to find chemistry with new linemates, if it happens at all. Most likely Babcock will put Z with Fil and Bert to see if they can keep it going.

Yes, that would be awesome. But really, could you ever see Holland doing something like that?
