Lets talk third line now

I'm calling 60+ goals from the 3rd line right now.

Ridiculous.

Modano just fits in with the Wings puck-possession style more than he did with the Stars' game lately... I think he'll do pretty well - and if he doesn't, not the biggest deal.

I am expecting great things out of Hudler -- he made McCarty and Helm into a dangerous scoring line; imagine him having the option of Modano. Modano may float, but he still has legs, vision and a nice shot. You literally have 3 goal scorers on the 3rd line now, and Hudler and Modano are good playmakers as well.

If Babcock can get Modano backchecking again, with Cleary, that line is awfully nice defensively as well.

Don't forget Cleary in front of the net, digging the puck out of the corners and holding the puck down low a la Homer.

Looking like Eaves-Abdelkader-Helm will be our 4th line. Draper and (hopefully) Downey will be 13th and 14th forwards respectively. Talk of Miller and/or Ritola being dealt can only further favor Downey in getting a spot.

That 4th line will be extremely fun to watch. They actually have skill, something to prove, Eaves will mix it up, Abby will fight and they all throw some nice hits. I expect a lot outta the young guns this season

The permatations are countless really, I mean people keep saying that Drapes is gunna be a scratch most nights. Well I see Hommer sitting in the box too. If we look at it from a skating side players could move up and down all the lines. If Babs is going with Z and Pav on the top line, with all due respect to Hommer, the need for a more Elite skater would be better. Enter Eaves, the former first rounder has plenty of speed and also has 20+ goals in him. Hommers pluses are his powerplay nack, is this enough alone an to have him icing every game? maybe yes maybe no. With Huds back Flip now has his old sparring buddy back from the old Griff days, chemistry there. How about a 2/3 line of Bert Mod and Mule? Big and powerful with lots of experience. Helm Abby and Drapes as the 4th line, not to shabby either.

Zetterberg Datsyuk Eaves

Cleary Filppula Hudler

Bertuzzi Modano Franzen

Abdelkader Helm Draper

Holmstrom Miller

I personally dont think Eaves is a #1 guy, if i could make the lines id be going with these

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Franzen

Cleary-Filppula-Holmstrom

Hudler-Modano-Bertuzzi

Eaves-Abdelkader-Helm

Stuart-Rafalski

Lidstrom-Kronwall

Ericcson-Kindl/Janik/UFA

I like splitting up the D with Lids and Raffy because now you have 2 pairings with a puck moving D and a guy that can take your head off, gives opposing players something to think about.

my forawrd lines are loaded, really you could mix and match anyone with the guys we have and still have amazing lines, I just think Franzen is a much better skater the Homer and is now a better fit to play with Z and D, my 2nd line i feel is a good one to Flip has alot of speed,Homer well we all know what Homer can do and Cleary is just a gritty guy that can score,3rd line is stacked for a 3rd line, if Bert can have as good a season he did last year maybe cut down the box visits and hopefully Huds can get back to putting up points and Modano is just gravy on that line. Finally the 4th line ive been saying for a while i would rather have these guys on a line then a guy that just fights, Eaves,Helm and Abby is a great 4th line these guys are all fast and like to hit and can chip in with some points along the way.

I am excited for this season to start, not only to get that sour taste out of my mouth from last season but to see how this team will preform.

I could see if helm gets a little too complacent like last year at times, that draper could steal that spot for a time or even from abby if he isn't performing to his potential.

Wings also have Drew Miller in the mix too. as well, i think abby is still eligible to play in GR if it's the right move. the forward depth when modano signs is sickening. unfortunately, ritola will most likely be gone like the article said. if the wings try to waive him, he will be snagged by someone. probably EDM or NYI... but tell me this doesn't give each and every dude on here a chubby and that other stuff for the ladies...

Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Holmstrom

Franzen - Filppula - Bertuzzi

Hudler - Modano - Cleary

Abdelkader - Helm - Eaves

extras: draper, miller, ritola(maybe)

i'm pretty sure all 4 of those lines can put the puck in the net. that line-up = stanley cup!

it's a nice thought to have franzen on the 1st line with dats and Z, but homer and cleary on the same line is counter productive. too similar. flip needs to feed the mule all year with cleary probably bert getting the puck from the corner.

In the puck-possession style, the regular offense is run practically the same way as the PP. You need the net-front presense from Homer/Cleary/Bert to make the system most effective.

Oooook somebody has been hitting the bottle already!

I just want Homer and Modano on a line together so I can sing, "Chip and Daaale's Rescuue Raangers!" every time they come on the ice.
