Suter, who along with captain Shea Weber make up one of the NHL's best defensive pairings, left the game with an upper-body injury in the second period and did not return. He was hit by the Coyotes' Shane Doan.

The Montreal Canadiens got relatively good news on Tuesday, announcing that defenceman Jaroslav Spacek will have arthroscopic surgery on his injured knee and will only miss four to six weeks of action.

Blackhawks defenceman Jordan Hendry will have surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Hendry was injured during Sunday's win over Phoenix in a collision along the boards with the Coyotes' Shane Doan. In statement released Monday, team physician Dr. Michael Terry says he anticipates a full recovery in about six months.

The Edmonton Oilers will have to do without star rookie Taylor Hall for the rest of the season.

The Oilers said in a release Friday night that Hall suffered a high ankle sprain when he fell at the end of his fight with Columbus forward Derek Dorsett on Thursday.

Calgary Flames centre Brendan Morrison will be sidelined for another two to three weeks with a knee injury.

Morrison injured his left knee last week in Chicago where he was pinned awkwardly into the end boards by Blackhawks defenceman Niklas Hjalmarsson in the third period. Morrison has already missed two games.

This is just an odd coincidence, but looks like Sid's kid sister Taylor is now out with a concussion:

Dr. Charles Tator, an expert on brain injuries, was asked if certain families might simply be more susceptible to concussions. "We do wonder whether some families have a special susceptibility to concussion. But there's no proof for this," he told the Star, citing Eric and Brett Lindros as an example of that curious trend.

Gagner was cut by a teammate's skate during the Oilers' 5-0 loss to the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night.

The St. Louis Blues announced Thursday that both forward Alex Steen and defenseman Barret Jackman will miss 4-to-6 weeks.

Steen has been sidelined with a high right ankle sprain, while Jackman was felled by an injury to his right index finger that required surgery.

St. Louis Blues forward David Perron's injury-plagued season has come to an end as sources tell TSN that the Blues have shut down the Sherbrooke, Quebec native for the remainder of the year.

The 22-year old power forward has not played since suffering a concussion on November 4th against the San Jose Sharks. He has missed the Blues' past 58 games dealing with post-concussion syndrome.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Colby Armstrong will likely miss the rest of the season with a broken foot suffered during his team's 6-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning Monday night.

Armstrong stayed on the ice for a couple of shifts in the second period after getting hit in the skate by a Mike Lundin slap shot, but did not return from the dressing room for the third period.

Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Chris Pronger will undergo surgery on Tuesday to repair a fracture in his right hand.

"Chris had a CT scan on his right hand on Sunday and a small fracture was discovered," said general manager Paul Holmgren in a statement. "Our doctors believe surgery is the best route to take with the injury. Surgery will be done Tuesday morning in Cleveland by Dr. Tom Graham. Chris will be able to return to play in 3-4 weeks."

It's the third surgery that Pronger has required this season. He missed two games in October because of a knee procedure, and 13 games in December and January after undergoing surgery on his right foot.

Face-off ace Manny Malhotra will be lost to the Vancouver Canucks indefinitely with an eye injury that has already required one surgical procedure.

Coach Alain Vigneault said after practice Thursday that Malhotra's vision was affected after he was hit by a puck in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

I heard today on the FAN590 in Toronto there's 72 reported concussions so far this year in the NHL, that's about 10% of the league.

Also the host said on average, every 10 years everyone playing in the league will have a concussion. Wow!

All-Star winger Patrick Sharp was helped to the locker room with 1:35 left in the first period of the Hawks’ 2-1 victory Sunday against the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena. Sharp, who collided with Coyotes defenseman Rostislav Klesla, was favoring his left knee as he left the ice and didn’t return.

The Hawks declined to elaborate about the extent of the injury or how long Sharp might be out but said he would be re-evaluated today.
