This article mentions Rafalski will be out another 2-3 weeks.

GM Ken Holland said the back spasms that sidelined Howard Thursday are a "day-to-day" issue. But to make room for MacDonald, forward Kris Draper was shifted to the long-term injured list while he recovers from hernia surgery, and defenseman Brian Rafalski was placed on the short-term injured list while he recovers from knee surgery, which is expected to sideline him at least another 2-3 weeks. Justin Abdelkader (ribs) and Jonathan Ericsson (back spasms) also missed Thursday's game and are questionable for Saturday.

They originally said 3-4 weeks when he had the surgery, and that was on October 12th. So the "2-3 more weeks" from now would put him at about 4-5 weeks total healing time.

Ehh... They said "at least" 2-3 weeks. Yeesh.

But, you know, maybe we'll appreciate him more once he returns. Doubtful, but we shall see.

I just realized that when Draper comes back we'll have a serious backlog of players. With 3 lines playing well and nowhere to move Cleary and Modano, Draper and Hudler would have to sit. Talk about an embarassment of riches if those two guys sit mainly because there's no room.
