Kind of a surprise but he deserves it and I don't think it is a stretch at all.

I'm liking the looks of Duncan Siemens, he's my draft day want right now but theres still a lot of time before the draft and I doubt he'll fall to us

Landeskog was interviewed on the NHL network last night. That kid already has the physique of a pro, and the demeanor to match.

Do the Wings have a 1st round pick this year?

Yup, the draft is probably my favourite time of year, besides the playoffs obviously. I love following the prospects and everything. When the wings have a first round pick I love all the mock drafts and stuff. If the wings didn't have one I would probably not even follow it

Oh yeah? You follow all the prospects, eh? What can you tell me about Frankie Pare? Willie Coetzee? Few sentences come to mind, right newfy?

Well what about Nick Oslund? Julien Cayer? Mitchell Callahan? You're about to explode with rave aren't you? Oh yes... I can sense it from here...

:P Just joshin', just joshin'...

It'd be awesome if Washington signs him and he plays on the same line as Semin. :hehe:

I can't remember the last time the Wings got a high pick in the draft, which I guess is a good thing.

My Pipe dreams are Dmitri Jaskin, Viktor Arvidsson, or David Lilliestrom Karlsson. Jonas Brodin would be awesome too, but I doubt he will fall that far to us. Would also be sweet if Mark Scheifel ended up Red Wing property.

Haha youre always bustin my balls on this titanium but I actually do follow them all.

I can tell you loads about Callahan, and pretty much nothing about Oslund or Cayer because they are impossible to find info on. Thats why I'm always asking!

Coetzee has a good set of skills but is kind of small and gets out muscled when I watch GR games, Pare isn't very quick but has a nose for the net from what I've seen and good hands around the net. Neither are big guys.

Did I pass the test lol?

And I jsut take it upon myself to be the guy who tries to follow the grittier prospects (Sheahan included) and let guys like you follow the highly touted guys like Pulu and Ironhook :hehe:

Also just wanna point out, number 157 on that list is a former linemate of mine, I would love to see him get drafted by the wings

No more 1st (early 2nd) round North Americans, they have been bad news for the wings as of late.

Very true, exceptions of course do include Smith.

Yes true, but it seems that the season or two after we draft a North American with a high pick they underachieve. I hope Sheahan will turn it around, but, otherwise its weird how our luck has been with them lately.

He wasn't an exception at first. I mean, the first two years were kind of a pain. He was either injured or had incidents with maturity like unnecessary practice fights or getting benched in the middle of a game. He was at least healthy for his third year and that's when people started to have faith.

This is true, but I often think we have way too high expectations for first round north americans. We really havent had that bad of luck. Smith looks great, Sheahan is too early to tell and Mccollum doesn't look great but remember how Howard looked at first?

Smith is probably our best prospect right now, Sheahan is looking to be solid as of late and almost made the world juniors and Mccollum is a ? Oh and Kindl is an NHL player at least, hard to say how he'll end up

Ferraro is a NA pick, but he was second round, Emmerton is looking alright but he was a second as well. Helm and Abby turned out great so far.

I think the myth that the wings draft poorly north american isn't as bad as people make it seem.

Also, isn't Mursak a NA scouting staff pick, he played OHL so I would think that he is

Whats this you say Titanium?!?!?!?! Did I miss something here?!?! :P

On a quick glance, i see these I wouldn't mind, rieder and pakarinen most of all, ruuttu, because i'm banking that this is the one with talent.

# 41 in Euro Alexander Ruuttu

# 74 in NA Tobias Rieder

# 106 Euro Iiro Pakarinen

But for a #1

# 8 in Euro Oscar Klefbom

or

# 15 in NA Scott Mayfield

I might be dreaming on klefbom, but im putting us at the number 26 pick, and also picking solely off the lists.

This seems like a year the wings might trade down, or some of the names listed will rise.

I wouldn't be surprised to see our pick, especially if later than 26th traded down for a high 2nd and a 4th or 5th/6th next year.

I'll even go on to predict the Islanders 2nd and 5th (from Atl), 6th in 2012.

That would give the wings basically the same player they likely wanted at 1st and 3 picks in the 5th round this year, and a kicker for next year.

Anyone else wanna make some predictions to look back on in a year? Either way we will do good, we always seem to.

I disagree. His freshman year he had the highest (22 games played with 12 points) PPG for freshman on the team of anyone not named Kyle Turris. Second year he was second in defense points (32 games/23 points), and we all know how he did last year (42 games/52 points).

Smith produced, on ice, before and after we drafted him. He's a prospect that has lived up to his hype since draft day.
