Andy Pred 48 337 Report post Posted January 14, 2011 The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired left wing Fabian Brunnstrom from the Dallas Stars in exchange for right wing Mikhail Stefanovich. Brunnstrom, a 25-year-old native of Jonstorp, Sweden, was originally signed by the Dallas Stars as a free agent on May 9, 2008. Since the 2008-09 season, the 6-2, 212-pound forward has played in 99 NHL games for Dallas collecting 40 points on 19 goals and 21 assists. In 37 games this season with the Texas Stars, Dallas’ American Hockey League affiliate, he has accumulated 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points, along with 16 penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating. Was there something in his contract that triggered a payment when he played 100 games in the show? Sure sems odd he got sent down to Texas after 99 games. Anyway as we all know the Wings missed out on him but picked up the finnish free agent Leino. Im just wondering if the Wings gave up to soon on Ville or he just didnt fit in. He sure as hell fits in at Philly thou. I cant help but cringe when i view his stats with the Flyers thou. In all he iced for us 62 times for us (incl playoffs) and tallied 9+9 with a -3 rating. He seem's to have exploded in Philly in comparison. In 75 games to date he has 19+38 with a astonishing +33 rating.

MotorCityMadness 388 Report post Posted January 14, 2011 I just saw Brunnstrom play the other day for the Texas Stars and was actually kind of impressed with his game that day including one of the two goals he had where he sniped high glove as he came down the wing. Kinda glad we didn't give hm everything that the Stars did and now he can go sit in last place for a while.

NotTooAbby 71 Report post Posted January 14, 2011 Oddly enough, I was at the opening game for some new rookie on the Dallas Stars....Fabian Brunnstrom. Kid gets a hat trick, played out of his mind and shortly thereafter, is sent to the minors. I dont know what happened, but damn.......he may have plateaued but s***, I didnt expect to see a meteoric rise and fall all within this short of a timespan. Screw the whole Leino debacle.....it is what it is. I'd be more upset over this ---------He was leading the NHL in scoring when he was traded to the Stanley Cup-contending Detroit Red Wings for prospect Tomas Fleischmann, a first-round draft choice (Mike Green) in 2004 and a fourth-round draft choice in 2006. Dumpster yea yea yea...i know whats coming, but s*** Leino didnt have that kind of potential

Dumpster yea yea yea...i know whats coming, but s*** Leino didnt have that kind of potential lol at robert the floater lang. i'd definately take fleischmann back cause i was really choked when he got shipped out with the 1st rounder. i don't give 2 s***s about mike green. in fact, i hate him and his horrible defensive play. but the wings could have kept tomas and drafted a good prospect in the 1st round. the difference between leino in DET and PHI is top 6 minutes and pairings. playing 4th line for the wings grinding and shut down...he's a ******* playmaker! paired with briere was golden for him. if he was paired with franzen or zetterberg he'd still be a wing and hudler would be sucking ass on the flyers. Yellowknife Redwing 57 Report post Posted January 14, 2011 Remember when that bozo wanted guaranteed 2nd line minutes without ever having played a shift? I was happy to see him go to the Stars. He's entirely the wrong type of player for this organization.
titanium2 867 Report post Posted January 14, 2011 What??? First Lebda and now this guy? What's going on with Burke? He likes soft players now?
MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted January 14, 2011 Brunnstrom is playing for the Marlies. Might get called up after the deadline when it's pointless to claim on re-entry waivers. Stefanovich is total headcase, great talent but zero heart. Burke has been looking to unload him for a long time.
