Shady Ultima 40 Report post Posted January 31, 2011 I was actually a bit surprised that in almost every category for forwards it was either Dats then Crosby, or Crosby then Dats. The players know that he's in the top 5 of players in the NHL, but apparently the NHL and a lot of its fans don't think so.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted January 31, 2011 Chara had 44% of the vote, Weber has 41%, doesn't leave much for the rest of the league. As far as the few wondering about Lidstrom not being the smartest, he was #3 behind Crosby and Dats. It's that hate the old wooden sticks attract.

Well, you know what they say...artists are never appreciated in their own time. And as far as Pasha being the second smartest player in the league, I'm sorry, but he's got more smarts in the fingernail of his pinky than that thing in Pittsburgh could ever dream of having in his whole body - ever. 1 mjlegend reacted to this

What are you basing this on? The majority of the players that play against both of these guys disagree with you. For what it is worth, in terms of pure intelligence, Crosby was a straight A student. I've been saying Datsyuk is the all-around best forward in the NHL since at least '08. People always blah blah blah about Malkin or Ovechkin but look how much of a hit those guys have took. Crosby may be #1 now, but short of the extra 25 points (although that's a big deal), Datsyuk does everything Crosby does and some stuff he does better (defensive play, takeaways, hitting, stickhandling, fighting etc.). It doesn't help him that whenever the highlight reels are shown the just show Pittsburgh or Washington. It's funny how if it were almost any other player on another team he would be huge in the media, entertainment wise. Imagine if Datsyuk played for Toronto? We'd never hear the end of it. If we didn't win Cups most NHL would probably know next to nothing about him or us. I don't understand how ignoring the dynasty helps the NHL. Selliria 76 Report post Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) For what it is worth, in terms of pure intelligence, Crosby was a straight A student. I'm pretty sure they're only considering hockey smarts - not intellectual smarts. And Datsyuk's a smart player and all, but I can't really compare him to Crosby. But I will say that I just don't think Crosby is a "smarter" player than Lidstrom. Just my opinion, though. Edited January 31, 2011 by Selliria

My younger brother was/is a straight A student through his entire school life (in college now), but he's one of the stupidest people I know.
ami 273 Report post Posted January 31, 2011 sure, crybaby is the toughest forward to play against. if you are a good player AND you almost always have whole referee squad on your side, who would think it is easy to play against?

I dare say that Nick would be smart enough to keep his head up and be aware of his surroundings so as not to run into David Steckel.

Barrie 900 Report post Posted February 2, 2011 Detroit and Chicago are right at the top, which probably has more to do with their winning ways than anything else. Typical Canadian response. Face facts CBC and fans of Canadian teams, playing for a Canadian team isn't as great as you think it is. I think the best markets to play in are the northern American teams. Not a good weekend for the Maple Leafs, and a huge reality check for their fans. Kessel was picked last in the draft, sucked in the skills competition, was the only player on team Lidstrom who didn't get a point, and this player poll says they're top 5 in teams players don't want to play for and their coach is the least liked. Had to laugh both Crosby and Iginla made the Best Role Model list, those guys are two of the biggest whiners in the game.
