Craig Conroy, a vetetan of over 1,000 NHL Games, appears to be leaning towards retirement after clearing waivers. The 39 year old pride of Potsdam, New York has scored 182 goals and 360 assists for a total of 542 points over a span of 1,009 NHL contests. He has donned the sweaters of the Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, Los Angeles Kings, and Calgary Flames. Looks like another veteran down

He had a couple very good season. I've always liked the guy. He's been relatively healthy too, played 75 or more games a season for almost every season.

I saw that a couple of days ago. Makes me sad.
The Flames signed him to a league-minimum 2-way contract this year. I don't think he would've been signed at all except for all the injuries they had to start the season.
The GM told him to take the All-Star break to decide what he wanted. Craig was taking his family to Banff for a mini-vacation. I guess they'll decide what's best while they're there.

Sad news indeed, Conroy is a classy guy. With his personality I could see him getting set up pretty well after this with the NHL somewhere.

Some folks are saying he might take up broadcasting since he seems to be a natural with the media.

If you needed a dressing room "sound bite", he was the media's "go-to guy". Kind of like Draper, without the Stanley Cup rings.
