shoe 165 Report post Posted June 17, 2011 I was thinking about the obvious defense that is available (all the ufa's) and the not so obvious like guys trapped in the ahl with big contracts. Besides souray, redden and commodore are down there. I think Redden would be more welcome than Souray. I'm sure there are a few options hiding in Europe that wouldn't involve a trade for an overpaid ahl deffenceman.
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 From TSN. The Edmonton Oilers have placed veteran defenceman Sheldon Souray on unconditional waivers with the purpose of being bought out....

uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 You know you are desperate when people are suggesting Holland should pursue this bum. He did put up some decent numbers with Edmonton in 2009...but offense should be our last priority. He would be a better player as a 4th line forward.
Jusek 437 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 He has cannon of a shot and can fight, but that's it. No thanks. Lol, he only scored 4 goals in 40 games in AHL this season.

I'd rather pay Redden's $6m than have Souray at all; at least Redden is a serviceable defenseman, even if he isn't worth his deal. Souray is a joke. Ericsson is a similar player and better than Souray. JONATHAN ERICSSON.
KDDRWINGS1 9 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Maybe Kenny can get some of these guys like Souray who are getting bought on a two way contract if they don't have a contract later in the off season and make them earn a roster spot. That's the only way I see it being worth the risk for the team but I'm sure a team that needs to spend money will over pay a guy like him just to become compliant with the cap floor.
