cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted May 14, 2012 Go Knights Go! It looks like any team will have to go through St. John, again, especially since they went 16-1 in their playoff games this season.

GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted May 15, 2012 I have a question for the Canadian posters who follow this format. How much criticism is there in Canada of having a host team automatically get into the Final Four? Sounds pretty idiotic to me. I mean, how does that host team even take the rest of the season seriously?
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted May 15, 2012 The host team wants to play well, especially in front of their home fans. There's even been one case where the team was so bad, they didn't use their spot and allowed another team in (Hamilton, 1990). I personally don't have a problem with it; anything is possible. Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted May 15, 2012 Awesome, hopefully we'll see some outstanding plays by Tomas Jurco!~ Agreed. Can't wait to see the Sea Dogs again. I was hoping they'd be back again this year. Huberdeau is great to watch too. Kind of reminds me off Matt Duchene. Good smart player.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted May 15, 2012 I think the Oil Kings will win the Memorial Cup, even though I've moved out east and haven't been able to see them. They were so bad the last few years they've stockpiled top talent. I'd rather see London win though.

cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted May 19, 2012 Good first period. I'm really glad to see to wearing of poppies, a visual reminder of what the trophy represents and stands for.
Tim.D 176 Report post Posted May 19, 2012 3-2 Oil Kings midway third. Should be 3-1 but they (refs) allowed a really sketchy goal.
Tim.D 176 Report post Posted May 19, 2012 Final 4-3 Oil Kings. They trade goals in the last 10 of the third. Brutal turnover by the Oil Kings leads to a goal. Minutes later, the Oil Kings get it right back with a nice passing play.
Hockeymom1960 5,107 Report post Posted May 19, 2012 3-2 Oil Kings midway third. Should be 3-1 but they (refs) allowed a really sketchy goal. I really believe they shouldn't have shown the discussion with the ref and video guy there. Guy was kind of an ass to the ref. And it was confusing too what the final decision was going to be. Tim.D 176 Report post Posted May 19, 2012 That "goal" call was brutal. Yeah didn't they say they were going with the on ice call, but then they said goal?
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted May 19, 2012 Yeah didn't they say they were going with the on ice call, but then they said goal? Something like that; it was one strange explanation. If I heard correctly, this is the first Memorial Cup with each regular-season league champion also being that legue's playoff champion since 1979. Game Two tonight, St. John v. London, 7PM EDT on Rogers Sportsnet, RDS, streaming online from the website and on the NHL Network.
bkeck 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2012 Really impressed watching Tomas Jurco with the Sea Dogs tonight. No fly-bys, kid is throwing his weight around, using his size. Looks like the wings could have something good in this kid...

cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted May 20, 2012 Game Three tonight, Shawinigan v. London, 7PM EDT on Rogers Sportsnet, RDS, streaming online from the website and on the NHL Network. At 2AM on Sportsnet 590TheFan, whoever did the 20/20 referred to St. John's instead of St. John. And, TSN buried the game in the second half-hour of their report. Seeing Mark Hunter behind the London bench last night, this occurred to me: if he was wearing a bathrobe and let that beard go for another decade, he would look like Brian Wilson.
