frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted November 10, 2013 Wonder if this guy is having 2nd thoughts not coming to Detroit? Why? He wanted to play in Canada, Edmonton is providing Schultz with top minutes which will help his development in the long run.
GoalieManPat 1,007 Report post Posted November 10, 2013 Wonder if this guy is having 2nd thoughts not coming to Detroit? Probably not. If Edmonton can ever get there s*** together they have the makings of a powerhouse.
St. Michael (the Red Wing) 422 Report post Posted November 10, 2013 He might be rethinking things. Edmonton has too many of the same type of soft players up front. Until that changes things wont change for the Oil.
Nevermind 363 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 I'm very glad that we have DeKeyser instead. Schultz flat out sucks defensively. He's like Brendan Smith, except he actually produces a lot of points. And while DeKeyser will never have Schultz's offensive potential, I still think he can put up 30-40 points a season one day. Conversely, Schultz will never be confused for a shutdown type.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 While I generally agree that more minutes on the ice equates to better development, I really think in Schultz's case (but moreso Edmonton's issue as a whole), the lack of a veteran presence will limit how good and how quickly Schultz can develop as a defenseman. 1 Frozen-Man reacted to this
RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 Without a doubt, Schultz would have developed far better under our system and our team's tutelage. Just the losing culture of Edmonton is enough to depress any young prospect.
