Quincey files for arbitration

People on this forum are awful at judging defensive talent.

I would take Kyle Quincey over Brad Stuart everyday of the week. Holland would have done a nice job of replacing our D had that unfortunate incident with Suter not happened. Still waiting on a Refalski's replacement though....

Yandle-Weber

Ericsson-Kronwall

Quincey-Smith........

one day....

The risk would be more manageable if we didn't have E signed to such an overvalued contract. Thaat could be 7 million tied up in D men that are not special.

I'd take the risk on Quincey rather than signing one of the UFA's left.I don't see a player there that could bring us what Q doesn't have.

Take the damn picks and let him go.

This team is looking more and more like Edmonton by the second.

We are about an inch from calling this a "rebuilding" team..

We are most likely going to see every top player from Grand Rapids on the Wings roster next year no doubt about it. Im sure the NHL12 crew is all over it but there are real problems with experience on our team. When all is said and done we have Kron as the D mentor and Z, D and Mule as the mentors for the forwards. As great as they are, thats not a deep group for training the new recruits.

I have this feeling that Holland expected Ericcson to learn more from Nicky before he left and now that hes gone and its obvious Pylon didnt pick up much, hes trying to just put a full roster together with whatever is available.

Lets pray we dont hae injuries that require calling up from the 2nd line of the Griffins since the 1st line will already be on the Wings..

There are the Chicken Littles and the Poly Annas on this board and I think the sky is falling..

I don't know where you're going to find the space to put all these GR players? We're locked at forward positions. On D we'll see Smith and Kindl play more. That's about it. You're overreacting slightly. I understand the D situation isn't good for us at the moment but we're not going to dress an AHL team.

As for experience, there are a lot of people on this team that have been to numerous cup finals, Olympic finals, World Championship finals. Still have the core of Dats, Z, Kronner, Bert, Flip (a lot more experienced than I think he gets credit for), now Sammy who has been the distance with us and with Sweden. We lost a lot of experience in Lids, yes, but we've still got lots left. I understand your concerns, but just think it's a little overkill.

Tootoo, gustavson, samuelsson, bertuzzi, and quincey. 13 million per year for JUNK. Great job Holland.

If it isn't Ken Holland's greatest fan :glare: you'll find a lot more money tied up in a lot worse players elsewhere. This isn't the Olympics where you simply dress the best players tell them to play, you build a team for every eventuality which includes role players, veteran talent, kids, and in this era of a growning cap unfortunately some overpaying. But I don't think we're all that bad. You just hate Holland, which you've every right to do, but just think it's a bit unjustified with all that he's done.

Guest Hatethedrake!

Do you truly think that this is a trade scenario acceptable to the Coyotes?

No, it would likely be something like Filppula, Nyquist and Abs for Yandle.

You're awful at judging anything to do with hockey if you think that Quincey is better than Stuart. Good Lord. LOL

I find it surprising that he would think he is worth even a 10% raise after the awful game he put on the ice for the Wings. What a joke.

Just thought now as I was texting a friend about this, am I right in thinking he can't run to Russia if he gets offered less? I know Hudler did but am I right in thinking that both leagues now recognise each others contracts and so can't sign players who are already contracted to teams in the other league? Please correct me if I'm wrong as not too sure about all these sorts of things.

I dont know getting traded mid year like that cant be great for your mind so im willing to give him a second chance. Even with that said I dident think he was that bad. I still like the trade and think he will fill Stuard's roll just fine.

Yeah let him go when we need Defensemen and he's one of our most viable options. Are you serious? Without him we'd be relying on even more Griffins so you're arguing against yourself.

You negleted to think that I already thought about that....How productive is an employee that feels he is being underpaid or more personally, UNDERAPPRECIATED?

Thats why I said we are going to be rostered up with inexperienced AHL players before too long.

I didnt say we would have all of them in a literal sense either. Only that any spots that would be open to high end players will be filled by upward movement within the organization meaning that the bottom spots will be filled by the new kids.

Things arent looking good and even the hypothetical transactions are very VERY unlikely right now (like trading for Nash or Weber whom would both be better pickups than Parise or Suter IMO).

Back to the point, Quincey aint that great and if hes pissed, jaded or otherwise unenthused with playing for us for the pay hes getting then its better to leave him and deal with the players that are excited to play for what they are being paid.

Quincey is a top 4 Dman on most teams. You're basing your opinion on him through 20 games after being traded at the tail end of the season. He played on the top 4 on teams with decent defense. Stuart was garbage

Take what picks? If the Wings don't accept the arbitrated salary, is he not a UFA? And he can't be offer-sheeted after filing for arbitration.

Furthermore, do you really believe that anybody would give a first and a third up for him anyways? The Wings paid a premium because it was the deadline, there are now similar options available for nothing.

We're not getting any picks, and we need Quincey.
