LeftWinger 5,153 Report post Posted November 20, 2018 If you could only extend ONE and the other two MUST go, which would you choose if you were GM? Blashill, Howard or Nyquist.
F.Michael 4,590 Report post Posted November 20, 2018 I gotta go with Blashill. I've been quite vocal with my displeasure - however lately things seem to be trending in the right direction, and unless there's a certain bonafide coach who Holland is rumored to have a front runner to replace Blashill with...I'd just assume keep him rather than replace him with another unkown guy, or someone like Yeo who's not an upgrade. 1 krsmith17 reacted to this
The 91 of Ryans 3,019 Report post Posted November 20, 2018 I voted for James Russell. But I'd be happy having all three back. I'd also be cool with an extra 1st and 2nd rounder this June. 1 krsmith17 reacted to this
krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted November 20, 2018 If you're talking about an extension today, it would be Blashill, no question. I want Nyquist and Howard traded at this year's deadline. I'd be okay with either (all three) returning next season though. I know I'm in the minority, but I actually think Blashill is a good coach, has done a really good job with the young players, and a great job getting a team that was expected to be a bottom feeder to be competitive every night. Ideally, I'd like to see Nyquist and Howard traded at the deadline, and Howard re-signed in the offseason at a similar (maybe slightly less) cap hit, for 2, 3 years max. Nyquist, I'd just assume let him test free agency, but if he wants to come back at a similar, short term deal, sure, why not. 2 F.Michael and The 91 of Ryans reacted to this

ChristopherReevesLegs 7,022 Report post Posted November 20, 2018 It's amazing how even a small winning streak changes the perception of a coach. Jeff is a good guy. That being said you know I vote Howard all day

Last year the Wings were losing games by 1 goal, or in OT, or in the shoot outs...Now - they're winning those games, and kudos to them for doing so since the young lads need this as a confidence booster. I want the team to play well, but just shy of making the playoffs, and hopefully a few players are moved by the deadline to acquire more draft picks, and the lottery Gods are on our side. 10 minutes ago, ChristopherReevesLegs said: It's amazing how even a small winning streak changes the perception of a coach. It's one thing to lose, but be in the game like they were against the Sens, but when they're dysfunctional they look as though they belong in the AHL. With the salary cap in play, and league 'parity' - the coaches tend to bear the brunt of any teams misfortunes.
Euro_Twins 4,485 Report post Posted November 20, 2018 Gotta go with my boy Howie. We don't have another goaltender in the pipeline who can be a starter. Gus can be replaced, and we have bylsma to replace blash if need be
