I forgot about Seattle in their regard. Consider this scenario, they expose:

F: Johnson, Maroon, Joseph
D: Cernak, Rutta
G: Spencer

Seattle avoids Johnson because he's already passed through waivers (little trade value without retaining) and they don't want his caphit for the next long while. Now in that scenario I find it very hard to convince myself they don't take Erik Cernak... but lets say they already have a number of Dmen and It's diversity obsessed Seattle and they decide they want Mathieu Joseph, a young POC forward.

I think it's unlikely, but hell I don't think anyone foresaw Vegas taking a guy like Nosek off our hands either...

I am really hoping Johnson survives the Seattle draft. I think he'd be a great stop-gap fit in Detroit. Never any harm in having capable cup winning vets come in to help out with a young roster. That's how one avoids becoming the Sabres.

He would help the pp a lot.

Pretty sure the Habs would've taken the series in 9. Pretty unfair how the league did this one just to get Tampa to repeat.

Nobody wants to win an asterisk cup anyway, and that's all the bolts have at this point. Pretty hilarious to see them celebrate like they actually accomplished something. Let them have their fun I guess.

They need to clear $3.5 minimum to get under the cap, and they have 5 roster spots to fill. Meaning they really need to clear somewhere around $8 million at the very least. I'm thinking they're gonna have to move a bit more than just Tyler Johnson.

To DET: Brayden Point + Erik Cernak
To TBL: Namestnikov (50% retained) + Filip Zadina + 2nd + 3rd

Seattle takes Stecher from us

Vrana - Point - Bertuzzi
Fabbri - Larkin - Rasmussen
Smith - Glendening - Erne
Svechnikov - Veleno - Pearson
Raymond

Seider - Hronek
Dekeyser - Cernak
Cholowski - Lindstrom
Newpower

Roster before UFA

Its unfair that the NHL didn't extend the finals by 2 games so the Habs could win?

I guess I don't have a problem with Tampa being "over the cap". Each team uses LTIR to their advantage. Those pointing it out (Tampa was $18 Million over the cap), what was Tampa to do before the playoffs? Drop guys off the roster? How is that fair to players dropped? Players aren't paid in the playoffs, plus Kucherov is a roster player.

Kucherov isn't the first player (and won't be the last) who took a season to heal, so he could be back in time for the playoffs. There wasn't a cap in 2001-02, but I remember Forsberg was off all year, then ready for the playoffs. Even Yzerman timed his surgery in 2002-03 to be back for the playoffs.

So Johnson will help with the PP. I see what you did there.

I mean no disrespect to the Bolts, but I'm a firm believer that Tampa taking out the Habs in 5 is a huge fluke and robs Montreal of truly accomplishing what their capable of. I've spent pretty much every game in this series in pure disbelief, and it just doesn't make sense to me. I watched the Habs the entire playoffs play great hockey. It just doesn't seem fair.

If the Habs lost in a best of 9 I will face that the Bolts deserved the win, but I am just 100% sure it was a fluke and does a big disservice to the Habs and the NHL to have the Bolts win like that.

After winning the ”Conference Finals” against VGK the Habs were done. They had no more gas in the tank. Or I should say; Price had no more gas in the tank.

They should feel proud though, it was no small feat for a team like that to beat Vegas and make the SCF. There’s a bigger probability of VGK being victorious if that was a 9-game series than Habs beating Tampa in 9. Regular season performances support that.

The Habs were'nt themselves in games 1-3.

I would argue the opposite. They looked more like their mediocre selves in those games than they did all playoffs leading up to that. The Habs overcame the Golden Knights against all odds. Thats it. Be happy about it.

>Literally every "expert": Leafs in 5, Jets in 5, Knights in 5

The Habs are built for the playoffs and that final series was a joke. Montreal crushes Tampa in the next 3 games. Habs in 8.

The only real asterisk here is Scheifele being wrongfully ejected from the series against the Jets.

While I agree with you, the league did their very best to kill the Habs with the whole removing Ducharme with the virushoax. The Habs deserved a fair shot at the cup after taking out the Jets and the Knights.

Tampa:
>18 million over the cap
>Vasy wearing oversized gear
>Clutch n grab
>No calls by the refs

It just sucks that Montreal outplayed them every step of the way, only to be eliminated by Ross Colton (who?)

Posting ”>muh refs” is a concession in my book.
