bIueadams 776 Report post Posted August 28, 2023 I think this kid deserves his own thread. He's a 30 year old undrafted journeyman goalie, but he may very well take the back up spot from the old and outdated James Reimer. We just gotta hope Reimer is humble enough to go to the AHL and mentor Cossa if need be. Saw this today on reddit: If anyone has access to the full article PLEASE jump in. But at face value it seems like Warosfsky played Lyon over the Canes hot young Russian goalie in Kochetkov. And they wanted to fire him for this? Dumb. I think he's head coach of the Sharks or something now. Anyway - Lyon is coming off as goalie who really rises to the occasion. He hasn't had much success getting a full time job in his career, but he seems to be the guy that gets the job done when the stakes are high. IMO - EXACTLY what you want out of a back up goalie. A guy who doesn't cost you much BUT FUQQING PLAYS when you call him. He was the guy Warosfsky leaned on in his calder run. He was instrumental in getting the Cats to the playoffs, and then also played well in the playoffs in his limited games. This is the kinda guy I want to see win the backup spot at camp. This is the kinda guy that I want Derek to consider sitting Husso for. Ned was a dud, but maybe this is our Tim Thomas late blooming goalie? Since he turned about 28 he seems to have turned the corner as a goalie in a very positive way. Nothing against Reimer - but I wouldn't have picked Reimer. Not because he believes in Jesus/Muhammad/Satan/Moses/Buddha/Thor/Ra or whatever, as some of our more less tolerant members like @The 91 of Ryans would object to. But because he kinda just sucks. At the end of the day I think he's just a safe pick for a developing team. 35, family, goes to church, you can pretty much expect him to be a another adult in the lockerroom amongst a room full of dumbass hot head boys. Would you rather Kasper go get day drunk with Vrana on a Sunday, or go to church with Reimer? I think these guys have a role to play. That said I was talking to a friend of mine in bloomfieldhills who I havent talked to in a while. He told me he was seeing Mo Seider and Marc Staal out together getting dinner just one on one all the time. If anyone remembers the Staals are a buncha church going guys as well. I think SY has a definite plan here. He's surrounding the young players with the most boring church/family guys he can. Guys like Hronek and Vrana? Gone. Vrana was an obvious one, but Hronek was also part of the whole czech cocaine scene that Hudler kinda started but Tatar definately continued (from what I hear Tatar not does touch the stuff anymore now). But seriously there is a culture building technique going on that is at play here as well. Yzerman talked about at his last press conference about how much he delved into players personal lives - and asked other players like Copp/Larkin how potential new players like Compher behave/act/live. He booted Vrana so freaking quick. He wants his boys pure - focused on hockey - no drugs - family oriented and committed to the area (aka the wings). Sean Avery did an interview on spittin chiclets a few years ago where he talked about Yzerman. He said, as a rookie, he was in a restaurant in Florida with the team. And the hottest gal he had basically every seen (15/10) walked up to Yzerman and whispered something in his ear. And SY responded outloud in front of everyone: "You're not worth 20 million dollars". Alluding to the fact that, that is how much money his wife would get when he got caught having an affair and got a divorce. Like - this is the self control this guy has - big tiddy Florida super models are throwing themslevs at him and he's like nah. Do you think Hudler would have done the same in his shoes? Nah. That's what made SY a great leader. He did the whats best for the team - not for himself. God bless him and love him. Could you imagine if we were like the leafs or the flames and Holland got fired and we just had to take on BrAd Treliving or some other rando journeyman manager? Godmman we in good hands. Also Joe Sakic sucks as a manager. Shanahan should be fired (sorry old friend) and also bruins and penguins and similar teams are homosecual in nature
AtlantaHotWings 1,126 Report post Posted August 28, 2023 Good post and I question why everyone(press) assumes Reimer is the backup. Looking at their stats there should be a battle for that backup spot behind Husso. Reimer Lyon Frankly I am liking that we FINALLY have some choices that aren't hold your nose and pick the best of the worst. 2 Rick D and bIueadams reacted to this

Don't get me wrong - I'm intrigued and excited about this Lyon kid. But he could very well be the new Ned, and Reimer the new Hellberg. And the great goalie carousel in the sky spins on. 1 Rick D reacted to this

Then revisit this thread in Feb 2024 and be a whiny beetch about the goalies... 2 bIueadams and Rick D reacted to this

Axl Foley 334 Report post Posted August 31, 2023 If you were really a Christian, then you would know that JC told his followers that they would be mocked, ridiculed, and attacked. Doing so only strengthens their belief system. If you really want to confuse a Christian, tell them they're great. 1 town123 reacted to this
