This thread is the dead horsiest of all dead horses.

Was reading a thread elsewhere that was called "which draft pick absolutely ruined your franchise?" And I clicked on it expecting Zadina to be a promenant topic of discussion. Zadina wasn't even mentioned till like page 25. Just goes to show pretty much every franchise has a few disaster picks like this. It's a bummer no doubt, but not outside the relative norm either. And pretty much every GM has these black marks on their record (even SY), some worse than others.

That said, nothing wrong with beating off a dead horse now and then.

Zadina didn't "ruin our franchise". Mantha, Svech,Cholo, AND Zadina hurt us pretty bad though. If we hadn't drafted Larkin (and to a lesser extent Rasmussen) during that period it would have been absolutely abysmal. That run, more than anything else, got Holland fired. You can't miss on that many first round picks.

I agree, the thread was more or less "imagine where youd be if your team didnt F up that draft". Like if we had Hughes instead of Zadina. Or Habs had Kreider instead of Leblanc. Or Minny had Price instead of Pouliot.

One that made me lol was apparently Barry Melrose drafted Gilbert Brule over Anze Kopitar, because, despite them ranking Kopitar very high, Melrose thought it was "too high to draft a european" lmao

Kings fans are saying he's old and slowing down, but McLellan is still playing him like he's connor mcdavid. Probably doesnt help that PLD has been a total bum for them. They want Todd fired badly.

Was this Kings Melrose? Didn't they still draft Kopitar?

Hronek achieves highest recorded slap shot in game at 107.9 MPH

We shoulda given that guy a decent partner instead of trading him

Oh, yeah. Kings Melrose would make Kopitar like 50.
