Jimmybigrigs69 486 Report post Posted Wednesday at 01:13 AM Lions have made their training camp cuts and it looks like this is our starting lineup week 1: OFFENSE QB: Jared Goff RB: Jahmyr Gibbs & David Montgomery WR: Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Wlliams, & Tim Patrick TE: Sam LaPorta C: Graham Glasgow G: Christian Mahogany & Tate Ratledge T: Taylor Decker & Penei Sewell DEFENSE DT: DJ Reader & Tyleik Williams EDGE: Aiden Hutchinson & Marcus Davenport LB: Alex Anzalone, Jack Campbell, & Derrick Barnes CB: Terrion Arnold & DJ Reed S: Brian Branch & Kerby Joseph On offense.... we are incredibly stacked at the skill positions. We should continue to be a run first team, with Goff improvising as needed being the great play reader he is. However, the interior offensive line took some huge hits with Ragnow (C) retiring and Zeitler (G) going to the Titans. Glasgow is a decent vet, but nowhere close to Ragnow level. 2nd year Mahogany looked good as a backup guard last year, and rookie Ratledge looks great as well, but they are both youngggg and I expect some mistakes. I expect new offensive coordinator Morton will have more outside running plays in his book than we saw last year. Plays where tackles Sewell and Decker are the lead blockers, taking some pressure off our young interior linemen. At wide reciever, if anyone gets injured this year, its no worries. Rookie Isaac Teslaa looks like a beast and should be able to step up immedeately. Believe he will be WR4 or WR5 to start the season. On defense... we are already banged up (bc of course we would be). Our best nose tackle Alim McNeil wont play till week 4, and starting linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez is out until November. Fortunately, rookie DT Tyleik Williams looks really good, just young, and new backup DT Roy Lopez looks pretty solid as well. And at LB Derrick Barnes is a solid stand in for Rodriguez. Whats improved about the defense is our backfield. DJ Reed at CB is a solid upgrade over last year, and Terrion Arnold is entering his 2nd year at CB and looks much better already than his rookie season. I do wish we had a better edge rusher than Davenport to pair with Hutchinson... but it is what is. Other interesting notes... Lions waived newly drafted edge rusher Ahmed Hassanein. He's out for 3-4 months with an injury. He looked really good in preseason, so i dont think the Lions are trying to lose him, they just want the extra roster spot, and with his injury I dont think another team will claim him (i hope). They also cut offensive lineman Dan Skipper - he will be the only player from last year that scored a touchdown not returning. Rookie defensive backs Ennis Rakestraw and Dan Jackson are also already out for the season with injuries. We now have a 50 man roster of the max 53. So we have 3 extra spots to claim someone or make other moves next week. I could see the Lions bringing back edge rusher Zdarius Smith, or even Dan Skipper once the dust settles. Superbowl here we come. 1 Rick D reacted to this

Jimmybigrigs69 486 Report post Posted Wednesday at 05:14 PM Welp WR Tim Patrick was traded to the Jags this morning for a 6th rounder. Meaning the big boy rookie from Hudsonville, Teslaa, won the WR3 spot and will start. 1 Rick D reacted to this

He seemed to love being a Lion and was a loud vet presence on the bench. Not sure what the hold up is, but I bet he signs soon or not at all. 15 hours ago, Motor City Mullets said: This is why a FMichael sucks thread exists 1 Motor City Mullets reacted to this
town123 240 Report post Posted Wednesday at 09:22 PM I like the Lions (Saints fan) a bunch, but, you guys need an RDE. Marcus Davenport is never healthy enough to count on. Was Brad sleeping on draft days?

Marcus Davenport is never healthy enough to count on. Was Brad sleeping on draft days? Well we drafted a RDE this year in Ahmed Hassenein, and he was the highest graded player in some of the preseason games, but he tore a pec and is out 3-4 months. He's our longterm solution. We also have Josh Pascal returning week 4ish, and he's similar to Davenport. At the EOD I agree with Brad. Its almost impossible to field two elite edge rushers. Theres only like 10 of those guys in the entire league and they make too much money. Regardless, Hutch is gonna break the sack record soon. Lions now have what they call the "Hutch rule" in practice. And that is - bc Hutch is basically unstoppable and getting sacks almost every snap - they allow him to run past the QB and continue the play like it didnt happen. Bc he was ending plays so early nobody else could get real reps in.
Jimmybigrigs69 486 Report post Posted Wednesday at 10:56 PM As a Lions fan... Most hated teams: 1. Packers - FTP4LIFE all lambeau cheeseheads should be killed 2. Bears - divisional rival fuq you no one cares about the 1980s u suck 3. Vikings - divisional rival, but also no superbowls like the Lions, so slightly less hate than Chicago 4. Cowboys - something about stomping on the boys throats is so satisfying 5. Browns - what is your joke franchise even doing? Also ohio is gray 6. Chiefs - only this high bc ur overhyped and no one cares about ur annoying travis and taylor BS Most liked teams: 1. Buccaneers - miss you former divisional bros 2. Bills - lake Erie bros for life 3. Ravens - respect for sucess and sorta always being good 4. Steelers - respect for hardcore fans and sorta always being good 5. Raiders - even when you suck the Raiders are still somehow cool Anyone majorly disagree?
Jimmybigrigs69 486 Report post Posted Wednesday at 11:10 PM EDGE Hassenein cleared waivers (thank jesus) Dan Skipper also re-signed with the practice squad, so we havent seen the last of the tallest man in the NFL most likely. Lions traded Tim Patrick to the Jags for a 6th, then proceeded to claim a safety and nose tackle off waivers from the Jags. Theyre prolly not happy about that! The safety Dan Thomas is apparently a very good special teams specialist. Rookie Dan Jacksons (injured) replacement. Also claimed EDGE Tyrus Wheat off Dallas. Interestingly enough former Lion James Houston made the cowbetches roster at EDGE. I believe we cut him b4 the playoffs last year bc he was so awful. God bless that idiot Jerry Jones. town123 240 Report post Posted 12 hours ago Wow that is a high risk high reward trade the Pack made. Easy to see G Bay and the Lions should probably be fighting it out for the #1 playoff seed with Philly now.

I hate the Cboys almost as much as I hate the packies, but I actually think Jerry Jones came out ahead here. Remember when da Bears traded two 1sts for edge rush Khalil Mack? No one does, cause it didnt bring them a superbowl, and it destroyed their future and theyre still paying for it. Packers will still be good, and just got better, but they just mortagaged their future heavily in order to compete with a Lions team that will still beat them. They also just made Parsons the highest paid non-QB in the league, and lets not forget that Parsons is a known head case lockeroom cancer. I will enjoy watching this blow up in their face... all over a SMALL edge rusher with personality issues. Ive been enjoying the way the Lions build precisely bc they refuse to do stuff like this. We have 3 rookies we just drafted that will be starting week 1. Id much rather do this than throw 47 mil at 1 guy instead. Good luck packtards. See you in Greenbay in 9 days... Dominated the division. Everyone hates them. But its special between us, bc of the thanksgiving game tradition, and u drunks thinking u own the UP. If not for those things the Bears would easily take #1, like most Chicago teams do for Detroit fans. I think the NFC North plays out like: 1. Detroit 2. Greenbay 3. Minnesota 4. Chicago The North was the most stacked division last year, and it only got better. It's gonna be a bloodbath again.
