#2290044 Money On The Board - Playoff Style

Posted by Peadydog on 17 April 2012 - 04:36 PM

Now that the event has occurred, I will state that I had intended to give $5 for anyone who fought Weber.

Thank you, Todd. I'm adding $5.

And I'll see your $5!

‘Twas The Night Before Playoffs

‘Twas the night before Playoffs and all through the Joe
Not a player was skating, not fast and not slow.
The jerseys were hung from the rafters with care
Stevie, Sid, Gordie, Terry, Ted, and Alex were there.

The fans in Detroit were all snug in their beds,
While Stanley Cup fever danced ‘round in their heads.
Valtteri Filppula, Kyle Quincey, Brad Stuart, you see
Would star in their dreams of what would soon be.

Next day on the ice there would be such a clatter,
That, for true fans of hockey, nothing else would matter.
Away to the arena, we fly like a flash,
(Unless we can’t get tickets, ‘cause we don’t have the cash).

The laser light show on the freshly groomed ice
Would light up the way as we welcome our guys!
Then, what to our wondering eyes should appear,
But the best of the NHL, at least so far this year.

With a Captain named Lidstrom, and a forward named ‘Tuzzi
We knew in a moment we all could be woozy.
More rapid than eagles, the players they came,
And we whistled and shouted, and called them by name.

“Now Sheahan! Now Kronwall! Now, go, Jiri Hudler!
On Datsyuk! On Zetterberg! And, now, Abdelkader!
Into the Playoffs! With the best of the League!
There’s no turning back! There will be no fatigue!”

“There’s Holmstrom!, Chris Conner!, and Ian White!
Jan Mursak! Doug Janik! They’ll all show their might!
Thanks to Joey MacDonald and Brendan Smith!
We got to this point, this team knows no quit!”

For now, in a twinkling, no rest for the weary
Here’s Franzen! And Helm! And Danny Cleary!!
There’s Kindl and Ericsson and Jimmy in net.
Drew Miller, Patrick Eaves, the best fourth line yet!

They say we’re getting old, we know that’s not true
We simply reload and reload, that’s what we do!
With Joakim and Gustav and don’t forget Cory
Our young guys can bring it, there’ll be no worry!

As the Predators and the Sharks and Canucks all cry,
When they meet with the Wings, and their Stanley dreams die.
As the Penguins do crumble and Florida meets with fate,
The Rangers and Capitals will just have to wait.

Then, dressed up so nicely, in the best they could find,
The coaches line up, with the trainers behind.
There’s Blashill, and Bill Peters, and head coach Mike Babcock
And, on the bench, Ty Conklin, our faithful back-up

Tragedy struck our world in September
We lost part of our family, we’ll always remember
Stefan Liv, Brad McCrimmon, and Rusty Salai
Our hearts were broken, we grieve to this day.

Ken Daniels makes the calls, he’s in no hurry
And between the benches, who else but Larry Murphy!
Our eyes, how they twinkle! Our hearts are so merry!
With Redmond to comment, or maybe Don Cherry.

With a wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Mike soon had assured us we had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word; these guys know how to win
To the Finals we go, we can do this again.

They spring to the ice, as the referees whistle,
In pursuit of the Cup they will fly like a missile.
And the fans will exclaim, whether they lose or they win,
“Go, Red Wings! We Love You! What a great year it’s been!”

GO WINGS!!!

#2276236 Nordiques Nation coming to the Joe

Posted by Peadydog on 31 March 2012 - 07:00 PM

ya the corporate people also piss me off also. if they wanna buy them and pass them out to those who arent able to afford, or are just learning the game thats cool. but ya the wasted seats do kill me.

i personally do have tickets for this game, but i was speaking more generally to the fans in the area. just think, 700 fans is nearly 2 whole sections worth of nordiques fans all of which will be wearing blue. why not pick a different game to do this?

Oh, I don't know. Maybe because they are hockey fans, want to go to some games, their team left, they want to go on a road trip and have some fun? Quit being such a whiny baby and welcome them to the Joe.
Careful, or you'll end up sounding like Adrian Dater - http://blogs.denverp...ping-away/9933/

#2269315 Anyone ever been to Avs games

Posted by Peadydog on 11 March 2012 - 09:23 PM

There are still lots of tickets available via the Avs website, if you want to go that route. Scalping is illegal in Denver, but most likely tickets will be going for below face value outside of the arena. There usually are a lot of people out there selling tickets. My guess is you will also be able to buy tix directly from the box office the day of the game, and save the online service charge.
Be prepared for a bit of verbal abuse. Avalanche fans don't take kindly to people wearing Wings jerseys, especially if the Wings aren't there.
Brooklyn's is a fun restaurant, right outside of the Pepsi Center. It's a popular before/after game hang out. The only problem is, you'll be there with Avalanche fans.
Have fun with your boys! My boys are adults now, and I still love taking them to games!

#2218128 Jimmy Howard will miss Tuesday's Game

Great another loss. I have zero confidence in Craplin and McGarbage.

I heard they don't think much of you, either.

Not at the Joe to help the nation cheer,
Instead in the car, with Ken Cal in my ear.
Sitting, waiting for the Wings to shine
"He shoots and scoooorrres! is the perfect sign.

Thanks! It's been added!!! Check out the OP!

Again, with my humble thanks to the original author,

For now, in a twinkling, no rest for the weary

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and the warm reception to this site. My brother told me he read some of your comments and was really moved by it. Positivity is key in a situation like this and it is awesome to see so many Wings fans unite.

By now I'm sure you and your brother know that he has the entire Red Wings Nation pulling for him!! Thanks for sharing his story!

As my son so aptly put it, if the wall of The Joe is behind you, your seats are great!

With thanks to the original (unknown to me) author, here is the 2010 Version:

‘Twas the night before Playoffs, and all through the Joe
Not a player was skating, not fast and not slow;
The jerseys were hung from the rafters with care.
Stevie, Sid, Gordie, Terry, Ted, and Alex were there.

The fans in Detroit were all snug in their beds,
While Stanley Cup fever danced ‘round in their heads;
Kirk Maltby, Kris Draper, Brad Stuart, you see,
Would star in their dreams of what would soon be.

Next day on the ice there would be such a clatter,
That, for true fans of hockey, nothing else would matter .
Away to the arena, we fly like a flash,

And we whistled and shouted, and called them by name;

On Datsyuk! On Zetterberg! And, Valtteri Filppula!
Into the Playoffs! With the best of the League!
There’s no turning back! There will be no fatigue!

As the Coyotes and the Sharks and the Blackhawks all cry,
When they meet with the Wings, and their Stanley dreams die.
As the Penguins do crumble, and Montreal meets with fate,
The Devils and Capitals will just have to wait.

For now, in a twinkling, no rest for the weary
Here’s Franzen!, and Helm!, and Danny Cleary
There’s Meech and Ericsson and Jimmy in net
