#2007030 Lilja likely gone

Posted by Kira on 30 June 2010 - 07:52 AM

I think many of you are overlooking the fact that Lilja was never the same after returning from his concussion. He seemed very tentative to do the grinding in the corners that he had previously done. This could be nothing but posturing from Lilja and his agent, but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if Lilja didn't return.

Who's to say, though, that he was trying to find his limitations while still trying to recover totally? I don't hold it against him at all - I'd probably do the same while I was figuring out just how much I could take. This summer will give him time to recover totally and he'll be back at full strength most likely. I think we should keep him. Sorry, but that's my feeling on this.

#2006975 What is it why you're a fan of this team?

I can think of only one reason why I would not like the Wings. But I daresay it's a really legitimate reason.

Death.

This is wrong on so many levels. Remember how much we missed him on the penalty kill when he wasn't there? I don't want to see that become a permanent absence. Come on, Kenny - bring him back.

#2005549 Is there a chance we can get Kovalchuk?

About as much of a chance of me being tall, blonde, gorgeous and loved.

"Thank you to the fans for inspiring me, and my friends and family for loving me."

Pasha, we may inspire you, but we love you just as much.

I turned it off after the Byng. I couldn't take any more of the crap. I am very proud of Pasha for winning the Selke...his speech was funny and also from the heart. I know the Selke means more to him than the Byng, so it went the way he wanted it to. I'm happy that Cindy didn't win the Ted Lindsay Award - he's not fit to carry Ted's jockstrap. Nice to see him basically wiped out on awards (except for that joke of Messier's, which I really don't count as an award anyway). Suck it up, Cindy - they're finally figuring out what we've known all along - YOU SUCK.

One other little thing that made me smile. When they were showing some of the best plays of the year, and they showed Pasha stealing the puck during a game with Nashville...I was there and saw that play. I'll never forget it. The arena went nuts. Just a fantastic moment to cherish.

Congrats, Pasha!

#1981995 Thanks for the Great Season, Detroit!

Posted by Kira on 09 May 2010 - 10:51 AM

First of all, I'm very proud of the guys. Everyone had us left for dead, and they managed to rise above it and thumb their noses at the critics. Good on them.

Considering all the injuries we had to go through, the season starting in Sweden (thank GOD we don't have to do that again!), and all the adversity, I'd say we did a good job making lemonade out of the lemons we had.

Second, I have to say thank you to the guys. I made it to seven games this season, and every one of them was a blast. I saw Vancouver, Dallas, Nashville, Minnesota, St. Louis, Colorado and Edmonton. I got to go to my first New Year's Eve game, and had a hell of a good time. I have a 17-game streak of winning games I've seen live. That streak will continue, I know. I don't know how many games I'll get to next season, but I plan on having a hell of a good time no matter how many I see. So thanks, boys, for the seven nights that I came home without a voice due to screaming my lungs out.

Personal thanks to Jim Howard for stepping up and playing like we all hoped he would. He's got a bright future. Thanks to Drew Miller and Patrick Eaves for being lifesavers. They were absolutely invaluable, and I wish there was a way we could keep them both. Thanks to Andreas Lilja for never giving up and coming back. You were missed when you were gone, and I thank you for having the perseverence and courage to come back.

And thank you to Pasha. He gave me one of the greatest moments of my life. I was at the Nashville game when he stole the puck in behind the goal and came around and scored - right down from where I was sitting. That moment was one of the most memorable moments of the whole season for me, because it gave me a chance to really see his talent up close. Everyone in our section of the building went crazy, and I would have jumped on that ice and hugged him had I had the chance. It was a moment I'll always remember.

I'll be cheering for Boston, and I hope whoever gets San Jose next round will beat the living s*** out of them. Have a great summer, boys, and I will see you in September in Traverse City. I got my tickets in a safe place. I love you guys very dearly.

My faith has not wavered one iota. I believe in this crew. Things will happen.

#1931580 Good articles on Patrick Eaves and Pavel Datsyuk

Posted by Kira on 04 April 2010 - 10:19 AM

I hope we can keep Patrick. He's been great on the penalty kill, he has a lot of energy out on the ice, and I've kinda got a personal bias for keeping him - he and I have the same birthday, although I have a few years on him.

As for Pasha...they stopped making words that can describe him.

#1928255 3/30 GDT: Oilers 4 at Red Wings 5

Posted by Kira on 30 March 2010 - 08:44 AM

Tonight is career game number 600 for Pasha. He's 5 goals away from 200 for his career...11 assists from 400...16 points from 600 career points. He is currently number 9 on the All Time Red Wings scoring list...49 points behind Brendan Shanahan at #8.

Congrats, Pasha!

I'll be at the game tonight.

I don't like the idea. I think everyone should have at least one shot before someone gets two. Minnesota would have been a great place to have it.

I realize Buttman thinks he has to kiss his golden boy's ass, but this just isn't right.

#1926282 Unbelievable deflection by Holmstrom

My housemate (who is a die hard Bruins fan) saw that deflection and said just four words:

"That's just not fair."

While smiling.

#1921612 Pasha Passion

Posted by Kira on 22 March 2010 - 12:22 PM

It's nice to see a little bit of emotion once in a while. He doesn't go over the top like Ovechkin does, and I like that. When he scored the goal against Nashville, he was as happy as the crowd was and it was nice to see. I hope he keeps it up. And the 6 goals to 200, and 13 assists to 400 - boy, would I love to see him get those two goals accomplished...600 career points. Pretty awesome for #171 in the draft, but #1 in our hearts.

I have to admit, I have a soft spot for Andreas Lilja. I love all the Swedes, but I really have a soft spot for Lils.

#1917841 NHL's most and least valuable players

Posted by Kira on 17 March 2010 - 09:34 PM

I'll take Brad Stuart over a hell of a lot more guys any day of the week and three times on Sunday.

Least valuable player, my ass.
