Oh god, NBCsports just did a little promo on Dan Cleary before they interview him on how good he has been for us... I think I just puked in my mouth.

interesting. You would think with the talented forwards we have, scoring would come more regularly. Unfortunately, I think our offensive problems are related more to the Defense's inability to break out of the zone cleanly.

But we need someone like Tatar who actually shoots not a playmaker like Nyquist. But I do believe Nyquist has the higher ceiling.
Nyquist has the same amount of goals in 2 less games in the AHL this year. I'm not convinced Tatar is this great shooter that people think he is. IMO, just from watching the games this season, Nyquist is the better player. He has really started controlling the game when he is out on the ice the last few weeks.

I almost hope that they are out of playoff contention for the final home game of the season season, so that they get booed off the ice by the fans in Detroit. Because that is what they deserve for this season.
I am super mad. Much like many of you on here. I mean, I am probably madder then I should be about a hockey game.
But comments like these are sad and embarrassing. This team does not deserve to get booed off ice. They have made the playoffs for 20 straight years and have given all of us, including you, something to cheer about more then any other franchise in the NHL. This team works harder on a nightly basis then many teams from the past red wings team. This will happen with young kids in the lineup. We dominated tonight and 2 stupid mistakes lost us this game. it sucks.

I watched Dekeyser out there the other night and while i seen potential...that kid looked fairly lost at times and incredibly nervous/anxious. In a must win game right now I'd take the pissed off veteren NHL defenseman playing his former team over a a rookie three games out of college hockey. And im not a big White fan either...
Exactly! Tootoo is exactly the type of player you need on the ice tonight...when the Wings start loafing like theyre great at doing, we need Toots to get out there and fire up the guys. This is why we miss Helm so much...Tootoo is our closest answer to Darren Helm right now.
I actually disagree about DD. I thought he looked very solid. He made some great plays, and nice passes. And he never got beat. His ability to get the puck to the offense the first time is needed.

My friends and I know somebody who works for FSN. Whenever we see this guy, he is always telling stuff about what goes on inside there. Anyway, we saw him recently and we asked him about the Murhpy thing. Basically he said nobody there knows why he got fired, and that everybody there was pretty mad about. Not groundbreaking info, but I think it kind of supports what a lot people are saying on how this might be personal or something. Anyway, thought I'd share the info.

But I haven't seen any team like these Wings, which ended up winning the Cup. A team with limited skill and limited work ethic.
Some systems work better in the playoffs, when you can suffocate teams and gameplan against them strictly. That's why those underdog teams didn't finish higher in those regular seasons. Regular season is a different animal.
That is a completely false statement. This is one of the hardest working teams we have had. Don't confuse not dominating every night with lack of work ethic.

Can't believe this team had that big home winning streak last year.
I can't envision them beating anyone at the JLA right now in a big game. Just pathetic.
Lol, its frustrating, but that was far from a pathetic game. This is what happens when your lineup is full of young guys and rookies. There will be growing pains.
On the bright side, DD looked great.
That Kronwall penalty is irritating. Thats the second time he has taken a stupid penalty in the last 5 minutes to kill our chances.

The same reason we suck so frequently the rest of the time, because we've got two legitimate talents and a ton of mediocre hacks or rookies filling out our lineup?
So that means St Louis sucks too? Because they just managed one goal through two periods?

^ I don't think he's being misused. Sure he's spent most of the year in GR, but it hasn't hurt his development or the organization.
Think about it. Has Nyquist look like a poorly developed prospect? Also, he's dominated the AHL and is a big reason why GR have done so well this year, and now he's here helping the big club. Double win IMO.
Seems like they've actually done well with bringing Goose along.
This is me being positive and optimistic. But whatevs.
That would imply Holland and Babcock know what they are doing, but thats impossible.... or is it?

I laughed when I saw this because of all the people whining and complaining about him being a bad coach here and on Hfboards (which is worse then here). People take him for grated here.

If anyone here believes Twitter, Dave Waddell and George Malik, do yourself a favor and sleep through the rest of today and all of Wednesday.
I saw a very interesting comment on one of Malik's blog posts today. Not only that, but I totally agree with it.
From PaulInMiamiBeach:
I’m so sick of this “you can’t fix it all at once, so don’t fix any of it at all” attitude. That is a recipe for failure.
He hit it right on the head for me.
Not only that, but I believe it was kipwinger who shared pretty much the same sentiment. Doing nothing makes us just as worse as making a bad deal does. This team is full of bad deals. Cleary, Bertuzzi, Sammuelsson, Quincey, Colaiacovo, Gustavsson, the list goes on. If we emerge from this trade deadline the same team, this team is going nowhere. Not even to the playoffs. Nowhere. But, we already knew that, didn't we?
This season wasn't always a "rebuilding/transitional" year. Off the topic, but transitioning to what? Mediocrity? Becoming an awful team for several decades? What's the end result? It honestly frightens me to think about it. Anyways, this season only became such when the team failed to do much of anything in free agency. At that point, management cut off their own collective manhood, threw their hands in the air, and gave up. At least, that's the way I see it.
Also, I'd like to address some ridiculous and false optimism. People cite the lowering of the cap next season and say how many great players will be available because of cap-compliance buyouts.
Sorry, but that's the biggest crock on Earth.
Do people really think that quality players will be bought out?
That's hilarious. No one is going to buy out key pieces, people. Certainly not a top-6 scoring forward who can consistently score goals. That's the reality of it. People think all these players are going to fall right into our lap.
Not only that, but wasn't that the mantra last summer? See how that turned out.
So, by all means Kenny, do nothing. I just hope your prepared for another firestorm from everyone around you afterwards. I would've thought you'd be sick of that already.
Our prospects aren't nearly as good as everyone seems to think. I've seen Tatar and Nyquist...and I'm not impressed. They've fallen victim to scouting. Teams know them, and I'd say that's about it for them. Our farm system is almost entirely boom-or-bust. See the dramatic peaks and valleys of a lot of their past performances. Jarnkrok and Pulkinnen, especially.
So, I guess tomorrow's a waste of time. Great. It'll be fun watching this team spiral out of control and crash in a flaming heap outside the playoff window.
Geeze dude, pull it together. We are in the playoff race right now with a team who has been severely injured this year. This whining is getting out of control.
I just want them to do something. But, they won't. I can guarantee this team misses the playoffs without an addition or two.
That makes NO sense. How can you guarantee this? We have been in the top 8 of the western conference for a majority of the season. What makes you so sure we are just going to bomb our way out of the playoffs? It seems more like you are being a baby about not making a trade. I'm all for a trade if it makes the team better. But I get the feeling there are not a lot of those out there, especially this year. We will more likely then not make the playoffs.

Trade White
Trade Coliacovo
Trade Quincey
No interest in keeping any of those 3.
Colo looked really good tonight. I don't think it would be smart trading away all three of those guys. I could see getting rid of White though.

It would be great BUT. I don't see Babcock putting a rookie with no professional hockey experience in immediately. I just can't believe that he would. If Danny wants to play in the NHL immediately, he will pick a team that will be willing to do that and sorry, but that probably isn't the Wings. In fact, I can't imagine that any team will commit to playing him immediately unless they have nothing to lose - no hope for the playoffs.
Danny has a toough decision to make. The AHL for a good team or the NHL for a crappy team.
He will step into the wings lineup if he signs. That's just the reality of the wings situation this year. We need young Defenseman, and are willing to take a low risk, high reward chance on this guy. Babcock has talked to him, Holland has talked to him, and they need a big Dmen who can play. This guy fits the mold, he has played college hockey, and will, at the very least, have the opportunity to play on this team this year. He will have to earn more ice time, but the opportunity is on the table.
So its play in the NHL on a good team, or play in the NHL on a bad team. I think he choses option A.

I hate thinking this but he may be a chronically injured player....it just seems like he cannot get and stay healthy. I don't like it....I don't like it at all...
Deadline deal could be looming if our "getting Helm back" doesn't turn out to be our deadline deal after all....
To be fair, he has been a healthy player. He has hit a streak of bad luck with three unrelated industry. Now if he is injured for the next two years, then you can call him chronically injured.
