I'm a teacher and I just used this link to rick-roll one of my student's parents. Sent an e-mail telling them in honor of us possibly facing each other in the first round we should do a friendly wager and why don't they enjoy (as a sign of good faith) this great video compilation of crysby's greatest moments. I can't wait to read their response.

My old ass jumped 3 feet in the air when gus scored. My new hero. Hell all the kids are my new heroes. Jimmy looked out of position a few times but he got the job done! Soon he'll be back to also being my hero. Finish strong boys!

#2489249 Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

Posted by Bully76 on 04 March 2014 - 04:03 PM

Sproul, Mrazek, Mantha, Athanasiou, Jurco and Jarnkrok all have top end potential. Pulkinen and Sheahan are potential 2nd line forwards. Marchenko, Ouellet, Backman, and Jensen all project as solid to good NHL d-men. Then there are Nyquist, Tatar, and Dekeyser. This team will not go the way of the Flames.

Agreed. We've all probably been frustrated at one time or another (or all the time for some people) with Holland's fear of making big-ish moves via trade over the years, but I still give him and the rest of the front office credit for drafting from low rounds quite well for so many years. Some of these long-term contracts and re-signings made me do a face-palm like many others. Maybe people are right for hammering him over his propensity to err on the side of caution, but I'm still happy to see the young talent we've got coming up (even if many of them age in the minors longer than we'd like). This is all part of the payment for how much we got to enjoy the run from the mid-90s to 2009. All that said, damn it would be cool to see a real move at the deadline for somebody who can help right now on the blue line or a power forward or something.

I'd just like to say how glad I am to see Pavel leading the forwards in ice time last night after getting trashed all over the place for playing in the Olympics and getting hurt consequently missing the next 15 games or whatever the pessimists predicted. To me, he's spent the last decade-plus displaying nothing but a team-first attitude and grit. I had to listen on the interweb since I live out of state, so if he had his worst game in recent memory, feel free to correct me. It was just a bummer reading all the negativity about his choice to wear the C for Russia on home ice. Maximum respect, Pavel. Now, let's win another one, boys!

#2485943 Zetterberg out with herniated disc

Posted by Bully76 on 21 February 2014 - 04:01 PM

Possible silver lining: Z gets healthier, the kids are forced to take on more responsibilities, show their grit from 20 years in Grand Rapids, and the Wings fight into the playoffs and pull an improbable upset of the Pens or Bruins. Yeah I'm hanging my hat on this pipe dream until further notice.

#2476140 1/22 GDT : Blackhawks 4 at Red Wings 5 (SO)

Posted by Bully76 on 22 January 2014 - 11:07 PM

Is that what we call a big win?

Also, how f**kin awesome is it to see Darren Helm flying around and scoring the shootout winner? Hopefully in April we're talking about this one being a turning point. Ambitious, yes. But we can hope.

#2411013 Datsyuk: I want to sign extension with Wings this summer

Posted by Bully76 on 24 May 2013 - 08:59 PM

of course i intensely want pavel to stay...but he would be one of the few athletes i'd fail to criticize for whatever decision he makes. i often assume pro athletes make their decisions for selfish reasons (and might be very wrong to do so), but he has my complete respect. i consider watching him develop over his entire nhl career just as enjoyable as watching nick lidstrom. for different reasons, but very much the same. i'd be sad if he left for the khl, but i'd gladly line up to shake his hand if he did. we're lucky to have had him on our team.

#2407604 WCSF Game 3 GDT - Blackhawks 1 @ Red Wings 3 - (DET leads series 2-1)

Posted by Bully76 on 20 May 2013 - 01:42 PM

Alright, boys. Since we heard so much before the playoffs started about how deep Chicago is with goaltending, let's chase crawford and let 'em show off that depth! I know Babs doesn't want high scoring games, but I'd take a 7-3 victory tonight just so we can see that top-notch backup Emery.

#2392177 WCQF Game 1 GDT : Red Wings 1, at Ducks 3. (Anaheim leads, 1-0)

Posted by Bully76 on 30 April 2013 - 03:29 PM

According to Ducks fans Bruce is pairing Fowler and Beauchemin on the first pairing, so Souray will be on the 2nd or 3rd pairing which I love since he has trouble handling speedy forwards which forces him to take bad penalties. I think our 3rd line will eat him alive on the rush.

4-2 Wings, Howie and Mule come up big time.

good point. nyquist and brunner like to bring it on the rush. i'd love nothing more than those 2 to zip in on hiller early and ruin his night. well, maybe to see #13 embarrass him would be equally as cool...

#2284527 Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"

Posted by Bully76 on 13 April 2012 - 12:50 PM

The thing has me in stitches over the whole ordeal is before end of the 3rd period, a majority of you would have loved to see Weber in red, now it's a mudslide of hatred and personal attacks.

Like the Wings have never had a player let emotion win and slip up at some point. Jesus I could see if Z would have gotten hurt but all is well, clean the panties out fellas ;)

Stay in stitches, pal - trolling on other teams' forums. I don't think calling a goon out who's wearing the C is much of a personal attack anyway. I'd call it a valid criticism of his professionalism. The best revenge will be sending your team to the golf course in April so they can play around fake smashing each others' heads into the plexi-glass on their carts. Tools.

#2283958 Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"

Posted by Bully76 on 12 April 2012 - 09:44 PM

I disagree. If Weber truly feels he did no wrong last night he's just going to let the whole situation roll off his back and focus on playing his game and getting the 2-0 series lead. The Red Wings however could come into game 2 a little hot headed/payback minded and make some dumb plays and get some bad penalties.

I would venture to say the whole ordeal affects Detroit more than Nashville but only time will tell.

You're judging this as if the Wings were unprofessional goons. This team has seen this kind of bulls*** many times and the players are disciplined enough to know this can work in their favor big time. If weber's willing to snap like that from a pretty weak hit from z, he'll crack when his team is losing game 2 4-1 in the 2nd period. The guy's a douchebag. He'll make a mistake and it'll cost his team in the end, even if the league dropped the ball on this "fine." They call this guy a captain? Nick Lidstrom, please show this moron how a captain wins a Stanley Cup.
