That is EXTREME overpayment. I wouldn't mind Hudler being a part of it... I doubt they would want him. I wouldn't mind making Cleary a part of the deal. I wouldn't mind sending Kindl as a part of the deal. Tatar would be STUPID to move for Brown. I wouldn't mind shipping Emmerton either. I don't know how to massage that, but I think they want to get better right now. I really would even consider offering them Quincey for Brown. Bob McKenzie confirms Brown is in play.

Dustin Brown is on the market. He would be a perfect fit for the Red Wings, I think. I wish Holland tried to get him.

My only brushes with NHLers come from work. I work downtown at Bestbuy (don't make fun) and Leafs come in pretty regularly. First guy I met since working there was Ron Wilson. He bought the nicest Mac laptop we have from myself and we just conducted business regularly. When he was skimming through his wallet I asked "What do you think of the team this year?" (this was my first indication I gave as to knowing who he was) He responded, "Best team Toronto has had since Sundin has been gone-what kind of discount can I get?" He seriously didn't take a breath between sentences. I offered him the 'student' discount which is to say $100 off in lieu of buying a service plan for $450. He said "Do I have to do anything?" and I let him know that I'd take care of it. He then asked for my card and he gave me his along with some nice gold seat tickets for the second home game of the season. The best NHL souvenir I now own is Ron Wilson's business card. They were furnishing there new condos with home theatre stuff. Both were nice enough guys and Lupul brought tickets to the store. He also left tickets on his counter for the installers. After I helped them out I texted Ron about the Wings game in TO and let him know they were my favourite team and he made some comment about them "being a good, but easy choice to cheer for". He had someone drop off the same Gold seat tickets to the store in an envelope with my name on it. Funniest thing about all this is how badly I wanted Wilson to be fired before I started getting hook-ups lol.

I get a kick out of them. The worse they are, the better. Puns are the lowest form of humour, and I am the lowest form of human. It fits.

it's not really fair to assess the quality of the GR call ups and such like Nyquist, Tatar, Smith and even Mursak and Emmerton seeing as they get bottom 6 pairings and bottom 6 minutes which is about 6 minutes a game when they get called up. Nyquist and Tatar are top 6 style players, and Smith is a top 3-4 dman. Mursak and Emmerton are more geared towards 3rd/4th but aren't getting much ice time. some of the fault for the progression of the GR grads and call ups has to fall on the hard headed Babcock. he does not like playing those guys for some stupid reason and that's why i no longer get excited about call ups cause they play 4-6 mins a game and he bag drives Z, Dats, and flip.

I think people are overvaluing Detroit's first round pick, here. Quincey is a young defenseman who can help Detroit this season, fetch a low price during the offseason, and possibly get us a couple picks in compensation if someone else decides to throw an offer sheet. Not to mention Stuart may not be here next season and Lidstrom will either be getting marginally worse or retire. Doesn't hurt to have options.
