For what it's worth: Nielsen has become a solid NHL'er. Nielsen is a very smart player and a skilled playmaker, with great hockey sense, he reads the game well and he is a good skater. Which allows him to fill a role on both the power play and penalty kill on the New York Islanders team. Has in recent years been considered an outsider for the Selke Trophy. And is among the most underrated players in the NHL according to Sports Illustrated and the NHLPA player poll. - See more at: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=210#sthash.9dkkeb0j.dpuf -

signed REPORT: Axel Holmstrom Signs With Detroit
TripleS replied to Wings_Dynasty's topic in General
From Hockey Futures article: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/124533/vrana-holmstrom-top-nhl-drafted-forwards-shl-2014-15/ 2. Axel Holmstrom, RW, Skelleftea (SHL) This season’s SHL Rookie of the Year was truly one of the most pleasant surprises in the European ice hockey landscape. Making the Detroit Red Wings, who drafted him in the seventh round of last summer’s draft, once again look like THE draft gurus of the hockey world, Axel Holmstrom began the season on fire with five points in his first three games. Coming back to earth after that, the 6’1”, 200-pound forward continued to learn on the job and became one of Skelleftea’s strongest players in a season where the team was desperate for its youth to step up to the plate in a big way. His ability to do this was put on full display in the SHL playoffs when he led the entire league in scoring with 18 points in 15 games, despite losing out to Vaxjo four games to two in the final. In total, Holmstrom went from being a home-grown prospect to a playoff power play go-to guy who finished the year with 17 goals and 38 points in 59 games to go along with a +10 rating. Along the way, he put up seven points in seven WJC games on a line with Nylander. With a bit more to learn about life as a pro, it is felt that the Red Wings will allow him to spend another season with the championship caliber Skelleftea club before testing his mettle on North American soil. -

I didn't make it much bigger but I'll try and make a bigger one you could use for a shirt. -
While the offense is oozing with success, the back end limps into the postseason with injuries to three of its biggest contributors. Veteran defensemen Jason Garrison and Braydon Coburn have been sidelined for three and four weeks respectively and could miss the first-round playoff series. Andrej Sustr also suffered an upper-body injury but is expected to be back in time for Thursday’s Game 1. A susceptible blue line is exposed with rookies like Nikita Nesterov and Luke Witkowski who combine for just 43 games of experience. Top-pair d-men Victor Hedman and Anton Stralman will have to log major minutes to compensate for the youth on the back end. An overwhelming forecheck by the Wings can wear down the opposing veterans logging serious ice time and can force young players into ill-advised turnovers. - From the Red Wings website ... http://redwings.nhl....s.htm?id=762981
