Fighting is something that happens in hockey, that you have to be willing to do. Zetterberg is willing to fight. Fighting is NOT a measure of skill or something necessary or required to win championships. Hopefully you can get this through your cro-magnon frontal bone to your cerebral cortex.

E does play better when he is physical and I really hope he brings it to the table this year, I'm going to go out on a limb and say he gets in 5-7 fights this year. This team wont be able to add any toughness this year because roster is full and no cap space. Be prepared to see " that " all season long. Just gotta hope guys like abby and E step up the physical game and try to put a hurting on the other teams star players for once.

lol @ the people saying asham isn't a good fighter. just shows how little some people on this board know outside the wings. dude is pound for pound on of the toughest and best fighters in the league and isn't afraid to fight heavy's. He wins more fights than he looses.
He would also destroy anyone on the wings except for downey, abby would get tuned.

countless times i saw our guys standing around playing with their balls and letting the other team get good in close opportunities. Obviously witht the personnel we currently have on D right now this isn't possible, but our guys have to make the front of the net a living hell to be in, kinda like what homer puts up with. right now it's more of a country club atmosphere in front of our net. Raffi is the guy who carries your bag when you arrive.
However, this shall change in the next few years with the smiths, lasshoffs, erdhardts, nicastro, kolosolovs, coming up.

draper/downey rotating in and out of the lineup. draper for injuries, and downey for when we play teams like vancouver and the ducks. with miller and ritolla gone, if there are injuries we can call up tatar/mursak etc and let them get their feet wet.
but that is just me.

crease clearing is underrated. hard to get second chance opportunities when your boxed out or on your ass

No thanks. Krajicek isnt good, physical, or mean. He isnt a good option as a #6, if we cant get Mitchell, I'd just bring back Lilja.

EDIT: Lol@ all the negs. As if the Wings don't covet puck moving defensemen. If he has ANY puck moving skill at all the Wings are automatically interested by default.
Totally wouldn't be surprised to see him here if he truly does have any puck moving skill.

As Mors said, this would be a waste of time. We need a physical 6th defenseman, and not a tall skinny puss.

people need to get it through there thick skulls that abbdelkader will not be in GR at any point next year. he will be on the 4th line and the PK. babcock has stated this. why is this so hard to comprehend?

I still feel the wings need a Martin Lapointe type of player. Someone who is a full time part of the roster and not in GR during the playoffs. I believe Aaron Asham would be a great addition to the team, with good speed and the grit the team needs but who do they give up for him?
