Indeed a great win by TCU thumbup.gif

Solid win from Michigan by the looks of it.

We got the Notre Dame v Pittsburgh game live here in Britain, was very impressed with the Irish. The offense looked awesome, as you'd expect with Charlie Wies in charge. Sets it up nicely for next weeks Michigan-Notre Dame clash cool.gif

Don't write off MSU, they still have Stanton who if he stays healthy can cause some damage in the big ten. I've got ohio state winning the big 10 this year. I don't think UofM is going to be as big as they're hyped to be. Without Edwards they can't throw lame duck passes up in the air and watch him come down with it. Hart can be stopped if he becomes too much of a problem. You need decent recievers and a decent QB, and I don't think UofM has either.

Avant and Breaston are pretty freakin good too. They might not be Edwards...but they're good.

Massaquoi isn't bad either, and Mike Hart can catch the ball as well as any back in the nation.

As far as I'm concerned, the only place Michigan can go is up. Yes, Edwards is gone, but on the plus, Henne and Hart will be even better than they were before. I mean, Henne was a freshman and look at the show he put on. The dulldrums of John "You Mean I Can Actually Leave The Pocket?!" Navarre are over. Rose Bowl baby, that's where we're heading this year. TSDS doesn't stand a chance when they dare enter the Big House.

I'm sick of the anti-Navarre stuff.

Ok, so the guy wasn't that mobile.

He was also a lot harder to take down than most QBs, and could get off a solid pass with a linebacker on his leg.

Navarre's strength and size allowed him to set a ton of passing records at UM, despite not being allowed to play his first year after the first couple games even though he did really well because the anointed starter Drew Henson had returned.

I'd agree, Henne is vast improvement over John Navarre and Michael Hart is better than Chris Perry in my opinion. Notre Dame will have to play their game of the year to beat Michigan on its off day.

Hart is not better than Perry. He's a sophomore, so that's no diss.

Not better yet, that is.

Henne is not better than Navarre. He still struggles with his control sometimes and can get hurried. He's a soph, so it's nothing major.

Again...not better YET.

But both are pretty darn close.

Did anyone see Avant on Saturday? He made 3 or 4 "Braylon Edwards" catches.

Hart had a pretty sweet catch and go up the sidelines (right in front of my seats thumbup.gif) where he was basically untouchable.

Good game, although the defense still seems to be adjusting to playing together, they played much better in the second half than in the first.

I disagree. Henne has much more talent than John Navarre and Michael Hart is better than Chris Perry. Chris Perry didn't make people miss or run over people like Hart does. One thing Perry had, was hands. And Hart doesnt seem to be too bad at receiving either.

What a great day. First off, I was very impressed with my Buckeyes. Granted they were playing Miami (Ohio), but they looked great. I thought Michigan's offense looked good for most of the game, but I still have a lot of questions about their defense. They've shown they have playmaking ability by the turnovers they created, but if Northern Illinois doesnt give up the ball 5 times, that game might have been a nail-biter for the maize and blue.

Congrats SWF, you were the first person I thought of as I watched the last seconds tick off the clock. Oklahoma could be in a world of hurt this year.

Now it's a countdown until I'm at The Shoe for the game of the first half of the year. 6 days, 8 hours. GO BUCKEYES!

Henne does have more talent.

But he's not a better QB yet.

And pay attention. That's the second time I've said YET.

Also, Hart does have a ton of talent.

Compared to Navarre/Perry in their soph years, Henne/Hart are probably better.

But the comment made was that they were an upgrade, which suggests that Henne/Hart now are better than Heisman contending seniors Navarre and Perry were.

Next year, probably. This year, doubt it. If Chad doesn't get his aim under control, he'll have some fans calling for his head by midseason.

Texas will stomp OSU. Vince Yong is pretty damn unstoppable.

Likewise, Notre Dame will probably run up the score on Michigan. (better coaching)

I'm going to have the same deal with college football thar I have with MLB. Fix whats wrong with the game and I'll watch again. MLB refused to ban Barry Bonds and all the "alleged" steroid users so I refuse to watch a game.

College football didn't fix the postseason disgrace of the BCS and its elitist bowl games, I have no desire to watch regular season college football highlighted by a great regular season and no way to distinguish a true national champion.

Hart is a monster isn't he? I went crazy over that TD run of his, he just ran over that defender, flattened him. Insanity.

Avant = Braylon Edwards who? (Just kidding, we don't have anyone to replace Braylon but he's damn close).

Breaston was dangerous, but he ended up coming just a little short on all of the deep balls Henne sent him. If he and Henne can get on the same wavelength there, it'll be a deadly duo for sure.

The defense? Bo said it. Our tackling was attrocious. Wrap the sunnavabitch up with your arms, don't just run into him and hope your dead weight will be good enough to take him down. The defense was excellent at producing turnovers (2 generated by hits, 1 from knocking the ball out of the QBs hands, 1 interception), but still struggled mightily stopping the run. It could be a loooooong game against the Irish, for sure.

Oh and FYI:

NO ONE WILL BEAT USC THIS YEAR!

Maybe....they played Hawaii....were you expecting Hawaii to put up a fight? I know I wasn't so their clobbering of Hawaii wasn't a surprise. They have such an easy schedule though. If Michigan could play some solid D they could beat USC, they have the offense, the defense is a ? mark though.

Henne's accuracy was only questionable on long (40+ yard) passes, its his first game of the season give him a break. Short passes he was spot on and he can fukkin heave that ball too man, I wish Joey could throw like him tongue.gif

Heroes I'm going with you on this one and I'm not bashing Navarre and Perry in any way. Henne and Hart are better right now and they will be even better in the future. Hart is the best back in the league in my book, most will say Reggie Bush though. You CAN NOT push Hart back, you just can't, the kid is a freak, a 5'9'' freak that runs over lbs and dts.

On the Bonds thing:

There is zero evidence that proves concretely Bonds ever once took steroids.

Bonds says himself he never knowingly did it, and used what he was told was an arthritis medicine provided to him by his trainer that does match the description of 'the creme.'

Without concrete proof, they CAN'T do anything.

If they tried to ban Bonds and he had a test done by an independent lab that showed he was not on steroids...that could be a major lawsuit.

And besides...Bonds has been rehabbing his knee all year anyway.

Why don't you pick on Raffi 'I don't never did steroids' Palmeiro? He tested positive after being named in Canseco's book and questioned by Congress. You'd think he'd have gotten the message. Maybe he just shot up TOO much and his body produces at that level now.

Mr Cream and Clear Bonds admitted to using the cream but said he didnt know what is was when he took it. His trainer has admitted giving it to him. Gary Sheffield lived with Bonds and testified that Bonds gave him the cream the clear. Jason Giambi also testified to it. MLB has a very strong case to ban Bonds from the game. Bottom line, baseball is a game of cheaters with a very few select natural players hidden in the middle.

Palmeiro is a disgrace to lie before Congress and then get caught. MLB is an EVEN BIGGER disgrace to delay announcement of his suspension so he can get his 3,000 hit in. Why do you think Barry Bonds hasn't been banned yet? He is close to breaking the most hallowed record in baseball. MLB wants him to break the record to create ratings and $$$ for the sport. They DONT CARE that he cheated to get there. I dont care to ever watch another game of baseball. End of story.

Mr Buckeye

I am a huge college football fan. But I have to draw the line refuse to watch a sport that does not crown a true champion. The BCS and the bowl game deal is the biggest scam in sports.

Texas is going to run right over OSU. It will be especially sweet for them to do it in C-Bus. I'll have to eat crow if OSU pulls out a W. Hopefully for Texas they have neutral conference refs.

Michigan will get out coached by a man who orchestrated 3 of the last 4 Super Bowl wins calling the plays in NE. People will see this year why NE was so good in the clutch. They have great coaching on the offensive and defensive side of things, not any more though. ND with a pro offense is going to be tough to stop. I cant put my trust in Lloyd Carr of all people to pull out a big win. Too conservative of a coach and he doesnt have a killer instinct to put games away. This coming from a MICHIGAN fan whose dad played basketball at Michigan!

Can't say it any better than that. I find it pretty hard to imagine Bonds not knowing what exactly it was that his trainer put on him. Personally I would not want someone putting something on me without telling me exactly what it was, but thats just me. You also have to take in the fact that Bonds' trainer had a very good reputation of being the guy you go to to get steroids, surely Bonds knew this as well.

Palmeiro deserves to get all the boos he gets, and he has no right to sit there and complain about it. He's deep in his own s**t that he created and there is NO way to dig himself out.

All this crap makes me even more mad that a hard working blue collar guy, Mr. Charlie Hustle himself, Pete Rose will not get into the hall of fame and some steroid freak is going to.....f*ck that.....Cheating is far more worse than betting on a game imo, Pete accomplished what he did with hard work and hustle. He didn't have to put any cream on or take any shots in the ass to do what he did.

Anyways....Go UofM

I dont care who's coaching your team, the Notre Dame players dont have anywhere near the talent the Michigan players do. That said, Notre Dame can win, but there is no way they go into Ann Arbor and run up the score on Michigan.

As for Texas-OSU, its cool, we never get respect. We will not be beaten by one man. Our defense is too good for that. Vince Young will get his yards and he'll get his points, but we have the better team. I only hope that shows up on the field on Saturday night.

I found this extremely hilarious from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram today.

http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/sports/12565600.htm

Week ender

TCU's 17-10 upset of No. 7 Oklahoma on Saturday is obviously a big win for coach Gary Patterson.

But just so we don't get too far ahead of ourselves, a coach would have to do more than beat Oklahoma once to be elected mayor of Fort Worth.

Mayor of Austin, perhaps, but not Fort Worth.

David Thomas' Week in Review column appears every Monday.

I have no clue who to root for in this weeks Texas-Ohio State......

A Ohio State win and a Michigan win would most likely put Michigan up to number 2 (wow that sounds good) lol......

A Texas win would DEFINITLY hold Michigan from going higher that 3....

but would a OSU win really push them up 4-5 spots??

.....I guess i have to "root" for...........Ohio State in that game........(Boy i hate saying that)..........it will make the game on November 19th more interesting.......

With all the retarded crap on how mascot names are offensive, I found this particularly funny.

http://collegefootballnews.com/2005/Column...e_of_Whimsy.htm

And don’t get me started on the Gamecocks … In the spirit of those offended by the Hurricane nickname, here are five nicknames that I find a bit disturbing in my own warped way.

5. Kansas State, Kentucky and Arizona Wildcats – The nickname reminds me of the Goldie Hawn football movie and the frighteningly unnecessary bath scene where Goldie shows off her Phil Mickelson-like boobs. There is such a thing as bad naked.

4. Ole Miss Rebels – What are they rebelling against? Their parents? The scientific validity of biological cold fusion? Hmmmm, what could it be? (An interesting side note, it’s a good thing Mississippi doesn’t have its old nickname. Before 1936, the school’s nickname was Flood.)

3. Duke Blue Devils and Arizona State Sun Devils. – Satan scares me, especially when he’s in Technicolor.

2. Tennessee Volunteers – The nickname reminds me that I’m lazy and do absolutely nothing to help my fellow man. It makes me feel sad inside.

1. Troy Trojans – After dropping the “State, the school’s name reminds me of the top homoerotic movie of all-time, which just recently passed Top Gun, Finding Forrester, and Ernest Goes to Camp for the honor. Add in the nickname of Trojans, and I have a mental image that has me running for the remote to find a Tag Body Spray ad.

Giambi got it from Anderson, not Bonds. Giambi actually testified that he never spoke to Barry about it.

And the fact remains...for them to ban him from the game, they would probably have to be able to make it hold up in court. Because as they have a strict testing policy which includes a lifetime ban, and Bonds has not tested positive, they can't touch him on that issue.

EDIT: And btw...he said he took the steroid creme, but didn't know it was STEROIDS.

If you trust your trainr, and they tell you something is not steroids, do you believe them?

No, you are rooting against Texas because of the Rose Bowl and because a Big Ten win makes Michigan look better.

You never root for Ohio State, you simply root against their opponent.

gwg....

The NCAA tried to set up a championship system.

It was ripped on by fans and media alike.

Because Oregon was 'robbed' of ther place in the championship game by a fluke in the calculations, the system was altered. And then USC was 'robbed' of their "rightful" place. LSU should have won both polls that year...AP just didn't want to move them up 2 spots to first right before the bowls. And hence we have had USC getting free passes in the polls...If not for the thing a couple years back, they might not have gotten in last year, or might have been playing Auburn. But everyone felt that they 'had' to vote USC. during the season despite there being like 5 undefeated teams doing just as well most of the year.

My take on Michigan State this weekend

The Good

The offense. 49 points, 685 total yards of offense, which is number 2 on the all-time list for the school. QB Drew Stanton was 22 for 29 with 297 yards and 2 TDs with 1 INT, and he only played three quarters. He also picked up 60 yards on 10 carries running. He looked like he was being a little more conservative running the ball.

The ground game looked great, with Jehuu Caulcrick rushing for 140 yards on 14 carries and 3 TDs. Jason Teague had 89 yards on 15 carries and a TD. Plus, true freshman Javon Ringer had 69 yards on 12 carries and a TD. And, he did it all with limited playing time. This kid is young, and not that big, but he can fly. Looks like MSU is using a 3 headed monster running attack like last year.

MSU's spread offense worked too, with 11 different WR's getting a catch. Scott, Brown, and Terry Love (who's going to have a huge year, you heard it here first) caught the most passes, with Scott and Brown each getting a TD.

The Bad

The defense. State made some stops when they had to, but remember, this was Kent State. They haven't had a winning season in years. The secondary can't let receivers catch balls with ease when they're playing Ohio State or scUM. Plus, there wasn't any pressure on the QB. He pretty much had all the time in the world.

Red zone turn overs hurt too. MSU should have had 70 points. There were two fumbles and an INT all inside the 20. Not good.

The Ugly

Shanking the PAT. Ouch!
