Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted January 4, 2006 Billups scored a career high 37 points, while adding 9 assists. And only 1 TO. I was also impressed with Carlos Delfino, 7 points and 2 offensive rebounds in just over 13 minutes. But Flip seriously has trust issues with our bench. Hito 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2006 well, in some cases I think it is a trust issue (*cough* darko *cough*), but I think it's as much that we have five starters who are excellent and can all play a lot of minutes every night. I've seen flip give quality minutes to Dyce, Evans, and Arroyo. He's a little more stingy with delfino, but the kid is definately proing himself. We've just got too many people who can play too many minutes to work them into the game as muich as we'd like. I've been pleased with our bench this year and can't think the Flip is any less so. More like he didn't want to have back to back loses. He's giving people, what he calls, "heat of the battle minutes" and they are producing numbers. The only two people he shouldn't trust is Arroyo (HUNTER GET BACK SOON) and Darko.

I saw Ben, Dale Davis, Lindsey and Prince at Friday's near OU after the game (nothing new, they usually go there after home games), but one of the screaming girls at the table next to us yelled and asked when Lindsey was coming back and he said "pretty soon". dallas27 7 Report post Posted January 4, 2006 Good. I hate Arroyo...although he is still going to get more minutes than Lindsey. I'm hoping that will change come playoff time.

Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted January 8, 2006 Well I tell you what does suck, Billups and Ben already showing signs that they are suffering from fatigue. Flip must use our bench more, and that means more Dale Davis. I want to see him have a major increase in court time.

dallas27 7 Report post Posted January 10, 2006 Know what is scary? The Pistons are ninth in the league in averaging 99.3 PPG. "But evaluating Detroit has the opposite problem that we discussed with evaluating Phoenix: The Pistons walk it up the court nearly every possession and routinely grind the clock down to single digits before shooting. As a result, the Pistons are the league's second slowest-paced team at 88.6 possessions per game -- only Memphis is slower. And looking at the league Pace Factor standings, you'll see that they use nearly 10 possessions per game fewer than the Suns." New stats show Suns excel on D, Pistons on offense
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted January 10, 2006 I've been following the efficiency stats for offense and defense, and it's been like that all season. Detroit has the highest offensive efficiency of any team in the NBA. The defense has been middle of the pack. Phoenix, meanwhile, has the 2nd best defensive efficiency in the league! Funny how things change when you factor in pace.
dallas27 7 Report post Posted January 10, 2006 They haven't changed the pace though, they are the second slowest team in the NBA in getting up the court. If they quickened the pace even more they could be averaging 110 PPG no problem. I think they still like to grind it out for a little and then put them away. I would like them to stop being so damn lazy against teams they should beat and go for their throat right from the get-go.

What I meant was, the offensive and defensive ratings change when you factor in pace. The team that scores the most points per game is not necessarily playing the best offense, as these stats reveal. Detroit is the 2nd slowest paced team in the NBA right now. That's about where they were last year. They don't want to change that.

dallas27 7 Report post Posted January 11, 2006 (edited) Carlos Arroyo got ejected and will miss one game through suspension. I guess this will please dallas27 HAHA, indeed it did. He's still making some stupid decisions and it usually costs the Pistons some points. I don't know what it is about him but I just don't like him. I used to like the guy but the more I watch him the more I cringe. As for Thursday they are going to most likely have to have Rip switch to the 1 spot and put Delfino or 'Mo Evans in at #2 when Chauncey needs to rest which I would actually prefer over Rip at 2 and Arroyo at 1. *edit* I didn't watch most of last nights game cuz my buddies came over but I guess Arroyo hit ben in the face with a pass!! How freakin' sweet is he!?!? Edited January 11, 2006 by dallas27

Why? Pierce is TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE on the defensive end. He couldn't defend ME if his life and the lives of his loved ones depended on it! Awful! I can't even describe how awful he is in his own end. It's laughable!!!! Plus...he's usually a streaky player on the offensive end. I mean, so is Rip sometimes...but I think Rip is slighly more dependable than Pierce (even if a streaking Pierce is far more prolific than Rip). At least I can count on Rip i his own end...he's relentless...
dallas27 7 Report post Posted January 11, 2006 From what I've read on the Pistons.com board everything is quite the opposite of what you stated. The general consenses is that Pierce is a better defender (bigger so more suited to guard bigger guards) and a better, more consistent scorer. He does however turn the ball over more than Rip. I'd rather not see Rip leave, so don't get me wrong, he's got the best jumper in the game right now.

RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted January 13, 2006 Total butt-whipping of the Spurs - in their house! Have to say i thoroughly enjoyed that one - I couldn't believe they were already up by 20 when I got home from work! Only 68 pts scored by the Duncan and co. Damn - why couldn't we have smoked them like that just one more time last June????
