Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted March 7, 2006 Just a quick note, Detroit has gone 17 games without scoring 100 points. Not only has our defense been faltering lately, our offence has been well below what it was at the start of the season.
Cruiser008 37 Report post Posted March 7, 2006 Darko update! There are completely conflicting reports of his progress in Orlando (two articles from today). Milicic still has a lot to prove This sounds like the Darko we all know. However... The Second Coming of Darko This sounds like the Darko Dumars saw when we drafted him. Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted March 12, 2006 Detroit are very ordinary right now, and that’s probably being kind. They lost to Washington 110-92, an 18 point hiding. They allowed 10 straight points to begin the second half, we then came back by scoring 8 unanswered, but then they scored 9 without reply. Our defense is non-existent; we can no longer shut down teams like we did in previous years. And Flip’s “new offence is grinding to a halt; we’ve scored above 100 points once in the last 19 games. What is happening with Ben Wallace? Only 4 rebounds today, 5 a few days ago. I’m sorry but I’m a little uncertain about our chances in the playoffs because I don’t trust Flip. I don’t think he can lead us to the Championship. The way we're heading home court advantage won't be ours for much longer.

This is the biggest slump Detroit has had this season, although SA is having their own troubles right now, and Dallas has no playmaker so I don't really see them as too much of a threat. Well.... better now than in April I guess.
dallas27 7 Report post Posted March 12, 2006 (edited) Detroit are very ordinary right now Very ordinary and still in first place. They lost to Washington 110-92, an 18 point hiding. Can't help the fact that Washington was making every shot in the world. They made some 6-7 threes in a row at one point in the first half. Our defense is non-existent; we can no longer shut down teams like we did in previous years. Please, don't be that obtuse. They are allowing .5 ppg more than last season. They shut team downs when they want to, THAT'S the problem. Please see both San Antonio games, the Indiana game a month ago, and a handful of others. And Flip’s “new offence is grinding to a halt; we’ve scored above 100 points once in the last 19 games. You don't need to score 100+ points to win a game What is happening with Ben Wallace? Only 4 rebounds today, 5 a few days ago. Now I know you don't know what the hell you are talking about. I love how you pick out ONE or TWO games and use that to try to back-up a point What about the other day when he had something like 15 points 20 rebounds and 5 blocks??!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!!? I’m sorry but I’m a little uncertain about our chances in the playoffs because I don’t trust Flip. I don’t think he can lead us to the Championship. The way we're heading home court advantage won't be ours for much longer. It's amazing what a few losses do to some bandwaggon fans. Wait 'til they start another massive winning streak and everyone will be on their nuts again. Never changes. Edited March 12, 2006 by dallas27
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 I love your positive attitude, but I think it’s gone a little too far. Saying Detroit can shut down teams when they want to, now if that’s the case, why don’t they want to every game? They must lack a little motivation to allow Washington to score 92 at three quarter time. I'm not a bandwagon supporter; we've been through this before. I’m just concerned about our form right now, and I simply point out issues I feel are needed to discuss. I don’t see what is so wrong with that?

I’m just concerned about our form right now, and I simply point out issues I feel are needed to discuss. I don’t see what is so wrong with that? How has it gone too far? Becuase I know more about the Pistons than anyone here and I know that they are going to be fine? What do you want me to say? They are doomed becuase they dropped a couple games? They haven't been playing their best ball as of late but that doesn't mean they aren't going to do anything now. Let's not forget this is the same team (now a better team) that has made it to the Finals the last two years. Miami isn't going to be a problem for Detroit. Shaq and Wade are going to have to have the games of their life (much like that game they beat Detroit in) to stand a chance. It's also important to note they [Detroit] didn't play all that well that game either. Detroit does shut down teams when they want to. They don't do it every game becuase it seems like the weaker the team the slower they try to make the pace and grind it out. And that is when they get into trouble. They have the offense to blow people out of the water and the defense to shut down people when needed. On a side note: Delk looks good and the bench is getting a significant amount of more time out on the floor. Sorry for the bandwaggon fan comment Aussie, I know you are concerned but it sounded as if it was the end of the world.

The pistons were playing good D, the Wizards were just making incredible shots. Off balance running jumper from behind the 3 point arc, forced fade aways with hands in your face, it just didn't seem to matter how hard the shot was, everything they threw at the net went down. My feeling is that the pistons will just shake their heads at Washingtons crazy shooting and get to work on getting their stifling D back to playoff calibre. No need to hit any panic buttons yet, they are still the team to beat imho.
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 I figured the Pistons would run into some kind of "slump" eventually - I guess going 500 over the last several games could be considered such. They are still hanging onto the #1 seed overall (barely) but SA and Dallas are lurking right there. Of course they have homecourt locked up in the East - but if they make it to the finals I believe they will have a big advantage if they can lock up homecourt overall.....making me a bit nervous but we'll see............ Are those crickets I hear? Delk has been a great addition to our bench; he’s really added another scoring option we desperately needed. He’s scored 32 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists in the last two games, and perhaps the most promising stat is that he hasn’t committed one turnover since he’s been in Detroit. I couldn’t be more pleased with Delk’s start with the Pistons. Now it wouldn’t be the same without a little concern. Why has Maurice Evans being played over Delfino? I don’t see why because Delfino is a much better player, he has the potential to be a very good NBA player. Evans adds tenacity when he plays, but he isn’t good for much else. Doesn’t add much offence and struggles to defend. IMO Delfino adds much more when he plays, and Saunders is wasting his talent.
dallas27 7 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 (edited) They are about the same right now. Delfino has an edge on him defensively. Mo has a better stroke from 3-land. Edited March 16, 2006 by dallas27
