Red Kingdom 4 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 It's being reported on a few sources like Fox 2, 'DIV, WXYZ that the Lions are firing Steve Mariuci and maybe even Matt Millen. Even ESPN has had something about it. My son called his buddy and he said he seen on Ch 2. Maybe the Fords didn't like being embarrassed on national TV this afternoon. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 Millen needed to go. Mooch i can agree with because he laid the team's problems today on Harrington, even though it was the line and the defense that weren't playing well, and roy williams didn't catch a pass until the fourth quarter. Did Harrington get the blame? From what I saw I thought he did quite ok, he made some excellent passes and as you said, no one could catch or make any plays for him. Naslund19 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 I would be fine with it. They just haven't had any success, so it's clear some changes need to be made. Getting rid of Millen could really be a good start, and as for Mooch I wouldn't miss all that much. I am also questioning their draft picks considering they haven't had much luck with Rogers and/or Williams. Something needs to be done in order for this team to have any success. IMO, getting rid of Mooch should be a top priority.
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 Did Harrington get the blame? From what I saw I thought he did quite ok, he made some excellent passes and as you said, no one could catch or make any plays for him. My theory is Harrington went out for two reasons: one, changing the QB is the tried-and-true way for a coach to "light a fire" under his team, and two, once Mooch realized the offensive line couldn't stop little old grannies from getting to the QB, they figured they may as well at least have someone who can scramble around a little bit to avoid the rush. Harrington doesn't get the blame for today's debacle, at least in my book, but the fact that he's failed to deliver for three years now sort of adds up. If he's not gone by the end of this season, I'll be pretty surprised.

Rice 42 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 Thank. God. Still wont change anything... the Lions have nothing but an overrated core group of receivers, a slightly better-than-average running back, a good but old tight end, and a great d-lineman who will likely sign elsewhere after this season. They need to replace every o-lineman, except Woody. Kenoy Kennedy is an overrated bum. Dre Bly is average.
Red Kingdom 4 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 Nothing is official...........Yet..... But this thing is all but done You're right, nothing official yet. I've been listening to WXYT 1270 and they keep saying that it could come down sometime today but, I'm beginning to have my doubts. Mariucci was on the station earlier this morning and said he knew nothing about being replaced. But, wuould anybody expect him to say anything else. As far as Millen goes, he should also be fired but, I think there's less chance of that. I put that in my original post because that's what I heard but, I doubt it will happen. betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 One of the most overrated DB's in the NFL. Would have had two picks yesterday if not for that cast. Bly is one of the best. Secondary was not a huge problem yesterday.

If he wasnt on the Lions he wouldnt be that great. I've read over and over in sports columns that he is one of the NFL's most overrated.

Not really, because the fact that Sanders was on a s***ty team makes him even better. He had no protection due to a (similar to now) worthless o-line. On the other side of the ball it's totally different.

On the other side of the ball it's totally different. Why? Maybe if he was on a good team with a better cornerback across from him (R.W's not that bad though) he'd have more picks cause teams wouldn't stay away from his side of the field. "I've read columns" is pretty weak evidence for his being overrated...."I've watched games" and I, along with most people who have, think Bly is probably the best player on the Lions right now. Bad hand or no.
