Detroit Pistons (& NBA) Playoff Thread

What a GREAT game! :D

Simply an awesome display of defensive intensity and execution by the Pistons. Total TEAM EFFORT to neutralize the most complete player in the NBA today. Gotta give mad props to James though. The kid has a great attitude, plays unselfish basketball and is destined to become the face of the NBA for the next decade (You hear that Kobe?).

Lookin' forward to another chapter in the budding Detroit/Miami rivalty. Once again (just like their matchup last year and Detroit/LA in 2004) it will be individual talent vs. teamwork and style vs substance. The Heat have got to be licking their chops though since the Pistons really had to get down and dirty against the Cavs and are a little banged up. However the Detroit thrives on adversity and still has one of the best defensive starting 5s in the history of the league.

Should be an awesome series. Go Pistons!

All I can say is there has been some outstanding basketball played save for the Miami-NJ series. All of the series have been real competitive. The Dallas-San Antonio and Phoenix-LA series have been dynamic.

Dalls-San Antonio could easily be the NBA Finals this year with how well the two teams have played. Thats not to knock any of the other teams, thats just a reflection of the quality of basketball the series has produced IMO.

Still lots of hoop to be played out

I totally agree. This has been one of the most exciting NBA playoffs in recent memory. We've already seen three great series (Cavs/Bulls, Lakers/Suns and Cavs/Pistons), with two even better (i.e. closer) series concluding tomorrow and hardly anything to separate the two pairs of combatants.

What a GREAT game! :D

As ecstatic as I was that the Pistons won, it was not a great game. At least not to a general audience.

That would be Dallas vs San Antonio Game 7 tonight. Unbelievable - Dallas had more points in the first half than Cleveland scored the whole game yesterday. Spurs came back - then OT - Nowitski was a monster - guy brought it tonight. If the NBA has games like this every year in the post season - consider me a convert. I've sort of been a fair weather fan the past several years - jumping on the Pistons bandwagon but paying little attention to the rest of the league. <_<

Looking forward to a great series vs. Miami.

Well Game 1 is being televised in Australia. Hopefully the trend doesn’t continue and they actually show up when I get to watch.

I'm really excited, can hardly wait for it to begin!

Someone help please!! Why oh why does Dallas have homecourt advantage over Phoenix when they are a lower seed??

Dallas had the better record, Phoenix just won their division.

Well that was great. Another game I see, and another loss. My goal in life is to see a Pistons win!

But seriously though that was simply pathetic. We get down by 13 points, then get Wade and Shaq in foul trouble, shoot out to a 4 point lead and then it was all downhill. We couldn't buy a shot, sounding mighty familar now isn't it? Where is the world has out offence gone? We shot 37%, but that numbr was more like 33% until some cheap baskets at the end. So there goes home court advantage. And there was a statistic that 91% of teams who win Game 1 go on to win the Conference Finals...

That game was a joke! We had the chance to take the game over when Wade/Shaq are out and we do absolutley nothing...in fact we got farther behind.

What happend to this great offense? Since game 2 of the Cavs series it has vanished! And thats a problem when we play average D..like tonight. I would like to see us use the bench a little more. I think Delk/Evans are very capable of having huge games for us.

Sheed is the X factor on this team. When he plays well we always win. When he doesn't we lose. Tonight is a perfect example of this.

In my opinion we actually looked better when Shaq was in the game. We really got on top when he was playing in the third quarter. Ben was doing a great job, and there were always helpers coming over to defend him. To bad he had to get in foul trouble because we could have used him out there. And there's no excuse to let Walker, Payton and even Williams light us up tonight.

I would've been SHOCKED if the Pistons won tonight, had they won, they would sweep the Heat. There was just too much against the Pistons tonight.

I didnt get to see the game, but know this, the title goes through the Diesel. He may not be the same Shaq, but if Miami goes up 2-0....the series isnt coming back to Detroit.

I'm disappointed I wont get to see a SA-Mia Finals. I wanted to see Shaq v Duncan one more time. They had some battles when Shaq was in LA. Elton Brand is a ******* stud for those of you who didnt get to see any of the Clippers-Suns games.

Hopefully Phoenix can take out the Mavs. I cant stand the Mavs or their owner. Gotta root for my old hometown too. Shame they dont have Stoudamire this year. This is the last chance to watch some good sports until the fall season starts back up. Gotta enjoy the last bit of hoop left

I didn't think Miami was that stellar - the Pistons needed to take advantage of their foul trouble and they didn't.

The Pistons have lost their offensive "mojo" and they need it back if they hope to win these series.

But if since wer're on the Pistons ride, we need to expect by now that they never do anything easily.

As bad as they played, they only lost by a few points last night.

Jumping on bandwaggons is never good. Don't say you aren't because you've been quiet the whole season as Detroit PLOWED through everyone in the regular season, and the FIRST ROUND, and the SECOND ROUND untill Cleveland won a few games. And since Detroit hasn't been playing the best ball you figured it was the perfect time to jump on them. And that is the thing, Detroit has been playing like s*** and they still could have won that game yesterday. Just like they had a chance to win game 5, or was it 6, when the Pistons minus Rip shot 12-50 (which was a lose by two points).

If Phoenix gets Dallas running they have a good chance against Dallas.

I dont watch the NBA during the regular season. I may sneak in a game or two, but the entertainment factor for me doesnt start until after the first round of the playoffs.

Detroit had a great regular season, but like the Wings, the regular season doesnt mean a thing once you get to the playoffs save for home court. They will probably go 7 with the Heat

I don't officially have a "team" I root for in the NBA anymore. I root for specific players I like (Duncan, Brand, Shaq, Nash, Stoudamire).

Phoenix pulled a rabbit out of the hat last night. Sure wish they had Stoudamire out there. They miss that size down low.

Ok read into this what you want guys, but I have live coverage of every single game of the Eastern Conference Finals.

We’re probably doomed now.

Uh-oh. :o This doesn't mean you have to watch though. ;)

I have to listen to much of the game on the radio tonight - sometimes I find the radio feed is better luck for me.

Superstitions crack me up - although I did everything I possibly could to send the Red Wings some good karma and it didn't work.

Tayshaun Prince was incredible tonight. :yowza: Such an underrated player. Hamilton was terrific in the first half, Sheed came alive in the third and Ben Wallace was just brilliant the entire game.

But honestly, those refs were an utter disgrace tonight, some of those calls in the last few minutes were just unbelievable.
