2006 ALDS: Tigers vs Yankees

45 mins to go and i am sooooooo geeked. Oakland knocks off Minnesota so Tigers have as good a chance as anyone to win the AL pennet IMO.

GO GET'EM TIGERS!!

Better chance than Minny, anyway

Honestly, I think the Yankees need this game more than we do. They can't be liking their chances in Game 4, not with Jaret Wright on the mound against Bonderman. And they're surely sweating this one out too. If Randy Johnson's back is bad, he won't be throwing his fastball like Randy Johnson....and the Tigers have made a living all year making outfielders chase bad fastballs. And if Johnson gets tagged, the Yankees have to go to their bullpen early....and their bullpen is horrible.

Wow. I'm pretty confident. I think the Tigers can do this, I really do.

The announcers could not be on the Yankee's crotchal area any more. I mean why don't they just head down to the Yankee's dugout and call the game from there?

I don't know why I am so surprised with a Detroit team not getting any respect but...

I predict a major sh*tstorm heading to Oakland that is going to ruin their little 3 game sweep high...

It was so nice to hear Ernie's voice again

Unbelievable game. Who'd have thought the fearsome Yankee lineup could look so dominated? I thought the Tigers had a good shot at winning tonight; I didn't think they'd do it like that. Kenny flashed his Sunday best stuff.

So Jaret Wright is slated for tomorrow's start. Jim Leyland's faced Wright in the playoffs before: Game 7 of the '97 WS. It's tough to remember individual ballgames, but I remember that one clear as glass. Worked out pretty well for Leyland.

Anybody else have the feeling that if the Tigers win this series, they go all the way?

A little bit. For sure, the Yankees are the toughest team in the postseason. But with only 8 teams making the playoffs, they're all tough.

Check out this Kenny Rogers press conference - you can really see what this game meant to him.

Great win boys!!! Ever thought Rogers would be so dominant, or that Randy Johnson would look so overmatched.

P.S. A Rod, you suck!! :sly:

P.P.S. Hey Giambi, are you looking for something? (waves needle). :P

Let's crush the evil empire tomorrow once and for all!!

Wooohoooo!!!

(This kind of reminds me of the Wings' Cup run in 1997 -- the excitement, the buzz around town. But with the Tigers sucking for so long over the last 20 years this season has come out of the blue -- no "almost" seasons like 93, 94 & 95, and that's what makes it even more mind-blowing.)

Yep! My cuz and I were talking about that last night. Surely if they can beat and DOMINATE this all star Yankee line up like they did tonight..they can beat anyone else.

I have been sick all week with a cold so its painful for me to cheer loud but i still am doing it.

Haha I've been sick as well! Coughing like crazy and im all stuffed up so when im cheering it's like WOOOOOO! then my voice leaves me hahaha. I care not though. I will keep on cheering,
