Wow I cheer for OSU twice this year, and both times they lose to Florida. Maybe I should cheer for OSU when they play Michigan next year (:

I just can't stand FLA. Have to give them props for repeating, but it's hard when Noah is such a piece of white trash.

If anyone could have made a 3.....ANYONE....we win this game, or at least have a chance at the end. Oden had his best game of the season, too bad he wasnt a factor on defense much because Florida was nailing three's all night. I just...ugh....I will never go to Florida for the next 10 years.

Butler...you're in my doghouse all offseason.

You know, there should be a lot of pride in making it to two national championship games in one year...but the fact that we lost both to Florida....it's awful. I...I...screw it. Night everyone...

Go Bucks

I was wondering when this Buckeye team was going to show back up. You know, the one that goes 4 for 25 from 3. They didn't show up at all during the Big Ten tournament and they didn't show up in the first 5 games of the NCAAs.

I think a couple things happened, first, Ohio State put everything they had into that Georgetown game. The younger players sans Oden just didn't have much to give tonight. The other thing that happened is that I think Ron Lewis and Jamar Butler were trying to press too much and trying to do too much.

But props to Florida. I don't like Florida but damned if they aren't on a roll right now. I still wish someone would shave Noah's head, but Corey Brewer and Humphrey's are deadly out there and Taurean Green keeps them all going. It was nuts.

I'd be shocked if Oden or Conley come back at this point. Lighty will be back as will Cook I think. Hunter will be a Senior next year, Koufous will bring in another 7 footer (and he can hit 3s) and Thad is bringing in another top 10 class. Next year they'll be able to play 12 deep on the bench because the scholarship restrictions will ease.

Props to Florida like I said. Enjoy it.

Is Patrick Patterson a 5 star PF from WV???

Yes. He's a teammate of O.J. Mayo at Huntington. Top remaining uncommitted recruit. He's considering, in no particular order, Virginia, Kentucky, Florida, Wake Forest, Duke, and West Virginia. And he's really dragging his feet - he originally planned to narrow his list to three a couple weeks ago, then last weekend.....still hasn't. And I have to wonder if it's because two of those schools have seen the coaches that recruited him jump ship. Some tough competition, too - Kentucky, and his home state school.

I'm really crossing my fingers. Patterson would take a LOT of pressure off Sean Singletary, finally providing us with a scoring option down low. He'd turn UVA from a talented but somewhat overachieving team in the ACC to a legitimate top-15 team in the country.

From what I've read today on Patterson I would not be surpised if Michigan gets their foot in the door as well because of Beilein. If you say he is kind of dragging his feet that can only help U-M.

Not a chance. Patterson's indicated he's "not going up there, it's too cold." Whatever, dude, West Virginia ain't exactly balmy come winter time. Still.......COME TO UVA! It's nice and warm most of the time, and the coaches aren't leaving or even thinking about it.

Latest news is that he's waiting to see what happens with the Kentucky search, which kind of tells me Kentucky is high on the list.

Yeah it sounds like Beilein is parting ways with Patterson so U-M has no chance. Plus he has to try and keep the current recruits on U-M's roster anyway. Kentucky is very hard to compete with. Sounds like they are getting Gillipse from A&M

Yep....Gilliepse is going to Kentucky.

I gotta say that I'm not exactly thinking that Beilein will return you all to the glory days....he might get you to the tournament, but I don't know if he'll get you to the next step....

Some very encouraging word on Patrick Patterson:

Some believe Florida is in the driver’s seat and that Virginia is second, well ahead of Duke in the race for Patterson’s services. However, there is some discussion that Patterson’s parents aren’t crazy over the distance between Huntington and Gainesville, Fla.

Further encouraging because Patterson wasn't too happy about Donovan's flirtation with the Kentucky job - Patterson hasn't been very revealing so far, but one thing he did come out and say was that he was disappointed because Donovan had given him the "I'm a Gator for life" spiel.

Only one problem with this blurb: It's from the Daily Progress - the Charlottesville newspaper. So maybe not the world's least biased source.

Within a few years Donavan will be coaching the Miami Heat....You heard it first

It will be interesting to see how Billy G does at Kentucky. He had the luxury at A&M of no one really caring about the program other than this year.

I agree, but it sure looks like he is a heck of a coach. A&M was 0-16 in the Big 12 just 3 years ago, and this year they were top 10 most of the year. This will be the first time though he deals with some big time preasure. Good luck in hockey tonight

True but you want to watch out for some of the older coaches. Sometimes they lose their fire and with it, recruits.

Very true, but I don't think that will happen because he is at a new job, which gives extra motivation. Right now he is looking for an asistant that has Detroit ties so that should help.

Any news on Oden...I actually have a feeling he will stay one more year. Is Connely flirting with the NBA??

Conley has already accidently said Oden is going pro, nothing from Greg yet. I havent heard anything about Mike going out this season, although he certainly could. With Koufos coming in this next season, losing Conley would be a bigger blow than losing Oden in my opinion.

While I'd like to believe Oden would stay, I've been burned before.

so far as I know he isn't going anywhere (Conley) but that could change. As for Oden, I think he SHOULD go, but he is, from what everyone says around him, a different cat than most. He might just stay for another year.

I can see where Conley thinks Oden is going yet Oden hasn't told anyone.

Honestly, I think he'll want to play another year with Conley BUT, at the same time, I think he should go pro.

You might as well go pro when the latest you will be drafted is No. 2

After the NC game, I dont think there's anyway Oden doesnt go No. 1. Unless said team already has an established young center. Durant was amazing, one of the best freshman years ever...but Oden is just coming into his potential. I think Durant is currently too skinny, he makes Tayshaun Prince look built. So assuming it's anyone but the Celtics with the first pick (they seem to have the biggest mancrush on Durant), I'm guessing Oden goes first overall.

Of course that could be a mistake...like Brad Daugherty over Michael Jordan. The promise of a 7' freak of nature is almost always too much to pass up though.

No I think he'll go No. 1 easily this year.

He showed in the NC game that he can be the franchise guy. I think that wrist injury held him back more than anyone was willing to admit.

Durant is good, but he's no MJ (yet)....

Oden seriously looks like the next Duncan....

BTW it was Sam Bowie (and Hakeem Olajuwon) selected before Jordan, not Brad Daugherty :P

I think Oden will be drafted 1st as well, but it depends on the teams needs. If the Bobcats or Celtics get the pick I think they will take Durant. I think you have to take Oden...it could be the 2nd coming of Shaq. Like I said worst case scenario for him is No. 2, which is why he should go.

Pretty much if you are going to be in the top 5 or so, you should go. That's about the way things break out.

Today Andy Katz said Connelly's dad is starting his own firm so he will be able to be Oden, and Connely's agent. He also said if Connely left he would probably be the first PG taken, and top 10 for sure.

As usual Andy Katz is about 6 months too late....

Mike Sr. started the application process during Conley's JUNIOR year in High School FWIW....

Not suprising....Katz doesn't know much. He thought Steve Lavin was a U-M canidate, and then said Stallings from Vandy was the leader for the job days before U-M hired a coach.
