Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 10, 2007 (edited) Jason Williams, Maltby, and Osgood need to go away. Like I said Dats needs to have a good postseason or just forget him. schneider needs to shut up and just play. There are quite a few here that would disagree with this decision. Normally I would too because he's a decent back goalie, but if he can't find a way to stay in the lineup at all, it's hard to make a case. joshy207 156 Report post Posted February 10, 2007 The big question with Sim is that he's been a Suitcase since 2002... 7 organizations in 5 years... why? Is he that expendable, or is he that valuable? Osgood's signed for another year, it'll be tough to move him. If this team flops early in the playoffs next year, I'd say it's time for a total rebuild, management included.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted February 10, 2007 Just like Hasek, Ozzie is a bargin. Anytime you can have an experienced goalie like him for under $1 Million, keep him! Despite some injury problems, he's no pressure on the cap at all. Also, I'd be willing to bring back Maltby if he signs for a few years for something like $850,000-$900,000 per. Maltby is one of those guys that it makes absolutely no sense to bring back...i'll be furious if they do. The team has other penalty killers now, he's on the downslide, and theres no room for him anymore.
Henkka 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2007 (edited) Nice discussion. I agree the most. I think Schneider is gone, because we have Lidström, Kronwall and Lebda as puckmoving guys. We just need to get one stay-at-home guy there. Lidström - Kronwall Lebda - Markov Quincey - Chelios Lilja (still signed, trade as possible) Kindl to AHL and up, if puckmoving defenceman gets injured. Use Lilja, if defensive d-man gets injured. Then we save Schneiders big salary and get some younger core there. The defence is less skilled, but the we can pursue the saved money to offence. Maltby gone for sure. Homer has been speking about returning to Sweden, but I think he won't do that yet. He's just too good to leave NHL. Maybe Datsyuk is gone and maybe Lang. We have Zetta, Filppula and Draper then at center core. The MAIN ACQUISITION then is right handed, big sized, good skatin center. The best choise could be Chris Drury, even he isn't big. Then add big gritty winger. Bertuzzi maybe, if not getting him this season already. But try to sign Shane Doan first. Bertuzzi - Zetterberg - Samuelsson Cleary - Drury - Holmström Hudler - Filppula - Grigorenko Franzen - Draper - Kopecky WIlliams (still signed, trade if possible) The cap rises few millions and saving Schneider's Datsyuk's and Lang's salaries, this is possible. I hope Hasek continues to play well and cheap and stays healthy. Edited February 10, 2007 by Henkka

Looks pretty top-heavy to me, on offense and defense... I don't like the look of that. Especially the idea of Samuelsson on the first line. Meh, I'd rather hang on to what we've got; what do you guys think? Edited February 10, 2007 by Earthhuman

I have a feeling we won't be able to get Drury, and i'm hoping we don't go after Bertuzzi. I just want to wait and see how the playoffs go before making any UFA hopes and dreams.
