Chicago Blackhawks...and fans?

I don't know if any of you were at the game last night, but those of you who watched it, remember Ken saying, "Wow seems like there’s a lot of Wings fans here," because of the Lets Go Red Wings chant?

My mom lives in Chicago, so I've been to many Detroit vs. Chicago games at the United Center and there is always a decent turnout of Wing fans, but never warranting the eruptions like the crowd had last night (especially on a Tuesday).

Well I spoke to my uncle today who went to the game and is a Hawks fan, and he said the fans were so fed up (and drunk) at the way the Hawks were playing that their fans were sparking much of the "Let's Go Wings" chant.

I can't imagine being a player on the Hawks right now, or have the stomach to be a fan. They are like the Lions, whenever the team seems like its going to get better, management and injuries make them even worse.

I heard a chant of "Williams Sucks" not sure what side was saying it though. Last year at one of the games there an octopus was thrown onto the ice. Both wings games here that ive been to have ended in a "Lets go wings" chant.

My Brother is a Blackhawks fan. Back in the day when the hawks were good, it was fun to rub a wings win against the hawks in his face and vice versa, in fact lots of punches were thrown because of this. Yesterday when I told him the Wings won it seemed like his spirit was crushed... sad sad stuff. I feel bad to even mention it let alone give him s*** for it.

Wasnt it the Hawks game not to long ago that the guy in control of the goal horn blew it when Detroit scored. If I remember right it was the Hawks. Even there soundman is confused on who the home team is.

Grew up on the west side of the state so it was easier to see a game in Chicago. I've been to plenty of games at the UC. It always seems 50% full of Wings fans. Makes for some interesting conversations in line for beer.

I bet I've been to 8 games at the UC in the past 10 years. I saw the Wings lose exactly once. Now that I live in Cincy it's been nearly the exact same thing in Colombus.

Yeah, Wings fans always pack Nationwide. Not too boisterous though. The Buffalo fans on the other hand...they were amazing. Maybe thats partially because the bandwagon is in full force this year, but I was thoroughly impressed.

I was in Buffalo in 1999 and 2000, lots of Wings fans. The Sabres got booed taking the ice in their own arena, and the Wings got cheered like they were at home, since Wings fans got there first.

Question here for anyone who knows. Does anyone remember how the attendance was when the Blackhawks made the playoffs in the 2001-2002 season? They got knocked out early, but had a pretty good season and still made the playoffs. Does anyone remember if they were very popular that season or not?

I like the idea of that. Underground cells waiting for their moment.

I'm so glad that I was too young to pay the Wings of the '80s and early '90s much attention. It's just been straight up goodness since '94 on.

I was at that game at the United Center (my first Wings road game) and our corner definitely started up those chants and kept doing them after every big Wings play (ie. a goal or big save by Hasek). One Hawks' fan got so pissed off he kept going "Lets Go Lions."
