Adidarw 35 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=An8e...t&type=lgns Crosby can become youngest player to score 200 points March 2, 2007 Pittsburgh (34-20-9) at Carolina (32-27-7) 7:00 pm EST RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- After helping his team win a shootout, Sidney Crosby takes aim at one of Wayne Gretzky's records. Crosby needs one point to become the youngest player to score 200 career points and three to reach 100 for the second consecutive season Friday when the Penguins visit the Carolina Hurricanes. ADVERTISEMENT The league leader in assists (71) and points (97), Crosby is 19 years, 207 days old and can top Gretzky's 200-point mark by 140 days. Crosby has one goal and 14 assists in his last 12 contests and scored the lone goal in a shootout in Thursday's 4-3 win over the New York Rangers. Rookie Jordan Staal and Colby Armstrong scored shorthanded goals in a 2:29 span of the third period to help the Penguins snap a two-game losing streak and move within nine points of the New Jersey Devils in the Atlantic Division race. Carolina comes off a pair of defeats to the Ottawa Senators and is in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, one point behind the Montreal Canadiens for the final postseason berth. The Hurricanes failed to score on 27 shots on goal in their seventh shutout loss of the campaign, a 2-0 defeat to the Senators. After Carolina won the first two meetings of the season against Pittsburgh, the Penguins came back with a 3-0 victory in their most recent encounter January 2. Crosby scored twice and added an assist.

TheUltimateWingsFan 1 Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Also, despite a long drought, Ovechkin is still on pace for 48 goals and 101 points. If he is able to hit the 50 goal and 100 point mark again, he'll become only the 2nd player in NHL history to score at least 50 goals and 100 points in each of his first two NHL seasons. Gretzky was the only other player to do that.

Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted March 3, 2007 Crosby the next great 1 Hes still a whiney *****. Not saying hes not talented but honestly he seems so cocky in a bad way. Ovechkin at least backs it up with physical play and such. Yes i Know hes only 19 and I coudnt imagine myself in the nhl in 4 years but still he talks so much s*** than make ******* Ryan Malone fight. Even though both will never happen if I had to choose between the two to add to the wings it'd be ovechkin in a second.
