C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2007 Gary Bettman take note-- 24 games against horrible intradivisional rivals= fan disinterest. I hate to state the obvious, but scrapping the unbalanced schedule also means fewer games against the Preds that get the fans into it, not just Chicago/Columbus/St. Louis. I like the Nashville games, just because that team is the epitome of what many on here say we're not but ought to be. So it's a great measuring stick as far as I'm concerned. I was relegated, as usual, to my XM, but yeah, the crowd sounded juiced. Great job to everyone who was there!
JeeSpot82 10 Report post Posted March 7, 2007 (edited) i think that has more so to do with the fans knowledge of the game down there compared to the ones up in Detroit. I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand this comment - are you suggesting that hockey fans in North Carolina are more knowledgable than those in Detroit? I'd have a problem with that claim, but before flying off the handle (like many others will do hahaha), I'd like clarification. I've never been to a game in Raleigh, but from what I see on TV - they seem into it and very loud. And from what I recall, they used to have cheerleaders. Do they still have scantilly-clad gals dancing around? Because that certainly doesn't hurt get a crowd riled up. Edited March 7, 2007 by JeeSpot82

yzerman&thewings=CUP 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2007 You know, I don't think they ever salt our stretch of I-75 here in Gainesville either. Oh wait... how nice for you! At least we can see the games in person on a regular basis

PS- so you were right yesterday afternoon, your Dad DID have tickets, that's cool, you got to see a great game! Okay then maybe it's cause I was watching at 1am and the volume was low! LOL I love what Schneids did! He's always so excited for our goalies. He does the whole 3 head bumps to the helmet and then hugs him. All the Wings were so happy for Oz. It was great! They interviewed Ozzie after the game and he was saying how mad he got after that third goal because it's just his luck that somethin like that would happen when it would bounce of his back and then go in. He deserved the win and it was so great to see it! About my Dad, I just had this feeling that something was going down and I was right thank God! Fans in Detroit know the game, in Carolina there are people just trying to understand what is going on, what offsides, icing, and all of that is. So when a player is on a 1 on 3 they seem to scream and go crazy like something might happen where as in Detroit fans sitback and evaluate the game. Its much better watching a game at the joe..its just louder at the RBC center in Raleigh b\c of the excitement of not knowing whats going on. Also the demographics they target in Raleigh is between the ages of 5-9...cartoons, mascot, and all that kid stuff. Detroit doesnt market cause they dont have to. Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted March 7, 2007 I hate to state the obvious, but scrapping the unbalanced schedule also means fewer games against the Preds that get the fans into it, not just Chicago/Columbus/St. Louis. Simple arithmetic: 2 more games against Nashville (win), 6 more games against the Laughalympics Squad (loss). 6 > 2. New schedule = LOSS.

I got exited for him too, he needed a big win like that! Still have yet to watch my tape, as I'm posting this from work right now. I'll make my final judgement then. BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted March 8, 2007 The lack of crowd noise on the FSN feed is really strange. When Toronto played at Detroit on Hockey Night In Canada earlier this season, I switched between the feeds and the difference was startling. The HNIC feed made the crowd sound really loud, while the FSN feed was quiet as usual.
Viperar 16 Report post Posted March 8, 2007 thats a shame, i think hearing the crowd go wild when scoring + the horn is one of the best sounds in all of sports

I was just watching the game from last night that I recorded and I was listening in for the Ozzie chants and I could BARELY hear it, which is sad because the JLA went insane with the chants and were pretty much non stop the second the shootout began. thats a shame, i think hearing the crowd go wild when scoring + the horn is one of the best sounds in all of sports Gives you goosebumps, doesn't it?! HenrikRules40 14 Report post Posted March 8, 2007 Tell me about it! FSN makes us look so bad. Seriously. I know what you're saying but I can't help but think if FSN had a loud feed of the crowd then people on here would be like the crowd is too damn loud and I can't hear Ken and Mick and the refs. We're never satisfied
Gizmo 21 Report post Posted March 8, 2007 I've only been to around 9 games at JLA, but I thought it was a great crowd. I loved the "Ozzie! Ozzie! Ozzie!" chanting during the SO. And I second the big bronx cheer to the plows and salt trucks. I just about nailed someone on the road behind the post office when I had to stop suddenly and I witnessed a nice accident in Detroit when someone got off of I-94 and lost it on the exit ramp. It took 3 hours to get home instead of the usual 2. The roads, along with the OT and SO made for a 2 AM arrival back at home.
