Simon pulls a McSorley

Kick Simon out of the League. If he wants to two hand something like that, he should be playing Baseball and take it out on a fastball. There's no excuse for doing that.

I think this is worse than McSorley. I don't condone the hit on Brashier, but he did rub the entire Bruins team the wrong way all game (Taking out the goalie, trying it again on the back up, then flexing his arm while skating by the Bruins bench), and when he was confronted man to man, face to face, he skated away.

Edit: Simon was just hit into the boards, then snapped.

Though if you ask me this is far worse, I'm sure Hollweg will fear better from this than Moore so it obviously won't be relfected that way upon the general populace though =/

How's exactly is this worse?

Bertuzzi ends a guys career, leaves him with chronic neck and spinal pain, plus recurring migrane headaches.

Hollweg ends up with a cut chin.

Do explain.

Simon should be "thrown out the league" while the arrival of Bertuzzi has been applauded??

Guys like McSorley, Simon AND BERTUZZI should ALL be thrown out the league.

And watch McSorley's cheap shot again. He creeped up behind Donald.

Your still going on about Bert

Like i said before my old hockey coach told us that a stick is a tool, not a WEAPON

Brashear had owned McSorley in a string of previous fights, i think that makes his motives look a litte more suspect than just team oriented.

I think it was a kneejerk reaction on the part of Simon.

Still, you have to be in control of what you do, responsible for your actions, and willing to take the consequences.

I don't hink he should be banned for life, however.

Campbell continues to show a tremendous lack of balls.

It should've been the rest of the regular season and rest of the playoffs. Simon has been suspended 5 times before for chrissakes. Talk about a repeat offender.

I guess they would have to look at the other reasons he was suspended and weigh it. Perhaps they should have some kind of rule about amount of times one can be suspended, though.

I think that's going overboard too. It doesn't call for that kind of punishment.

Like harold and others have said though, yeah, 22 games is weak, man. Especially with a repeat.

Something is a little fishy. As far as I have heard, Simon has not had his hearing yet (I believe it was scheduled for Sunday or Monday), so this seems very premature.

Also, with TSN removing the story, I believe that somebody jumped the gun a bit on this one.

The NHL has released a statement saying that the hearing has been held but the decision as to the punishment HAS NOT been made and the reports of 22 games are false.

Still going on? I think you're in the wrong thread.

hahahaha the malice between simon's slash and berts hit do not even compare, bert had no intention of breaking the guys neck, simon had ALL the intention of slashing hollweg right in the face

Bertuzzi did not intend to break the guys neck, but he did intend to punch him full-force in the back of the head, which is no better or worse than what Simon did.

I think they are similar because both were attempts to injure the victim, regardless of what the end damage was.

Anyone stop to think if Moore would have turned to confront Betuzzi instead of draw a call he may not have gotten hurt at all?

Of Course if he had turned to face Bert things would have turned out different. Even if they fell the same way result could have been different. Maybe this time Bert would have come down on his chest stopping his heart!?!?! Fact is what happened is what happened. No point I trying to say, what if?

yeah... Bertuzzi is a Wings now so... you know... all please jump Todd loveboat and call any crap he's done in the past an accident, a tough play etc.

now Simon is a ****** who blatantly, cold-bloodedly went after Hollweg trying to kill him... and... you know... he's not a Wings so it's obvious he has to be smoked.

should however Simon ever come to Detroit this would be an accident, tough play, etc. you know what I mean... yay... double standards it's called.

motorcitykid is 100% right. the league should have balls to punish this kind of behavior, not just throw laughable suspensions of a couple of games. this is brainless what Campbell and Co. are doing and one day it'll cost some player's life. I'd rather see players gone because they're rightfully ejected by the league, than because they're dead of some stick, sucker-punch, jump on the neck, hit from behind, etc.

I think he means the act by Simon was worse than what Bertuzzi did. If so, I agree 100%. Guys get sucker punched in the face and head all the time. Two-handing somebody in the face like your swinging a baseball bat is a heinous act. Worse than a sucker punch. Simon is lucky he didn't kill Hollweg.

I don't think he could have killed him. Hockey sticks definitely aren't baseball bats, they weren't even as deadly when they were wood. It's a different intensity of impact.

It is very much in its own category compared to sucker punches though.
