Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted April 2, 2007 wings fans are the same way. just read a game day thread when we play nashville. you can't get by three or four posts without somebody making some juvenile comment about southern stupidity. just read this thread. a truly classy fanbase would realize that taunting and yelling out stupid stuff is all part of the game and treat it as much. maybe if the joe did some of this and actually got into the game a little it'd be a more threatening atmosphere and more fun to go see. a lot of the time you can hear crickets at the joe. anyway, just let fans be fans. why do red wings fans like to make themselves feel so superior all the time? that's not classy. This from the guy who's avatar caption is Predators are Ugly! Can't we just all agree to disagree? Can we ever? Preds ain't so bad, I like watching them we we play in their barn, cause it's loud and obnoxious and entertaining. I hate the team though. Inultus 12 Report post Posted April 2, 2007 first, you're thinking of tech. northern has women. second, lssu didn't make it to the finals, notre dame and michigan did. lssu made it to the joe, congrats, if you check the ccha thread in the water cooler, you'll see that i was rooting for some u.p. representation. besides, who made it to the joe last year, and the year before that, and the year before that? finally, it's all in good fun, lighten up. LSSU and Mich. St. played in the consolation game. Michigan played Notre Dame in the title game and lost. Michigan State is in the frozen four, and that's the only team from Michigan that made it. First, I agree with hawkupaloogie's comparison between Preds fans and fans of a college sport. Nashville is in the South, duh. Tennessee is home to two SEC schools. The SEC is arguably the greatest conference in the NCAA (All you PAC-10 fans can bite me ). If you've ever been to an SEC football or basketball game, you know how crazy and obnoxious the fans can get. I guess maybe that attitude just crossed over when NHL hockey came to Nashville. I personally don't partake in the chants, but I don't mind the fans that do. It creates a great atmosphere. If you've ever been to a sold out game at the Nashville Arena, you can't deny that the place is rockin'. I don't see why it's such a bad thing. I promise you that most fans don't really think that Chelios sucks. He's a veteran NHL defenseman. Obviously, he doesn't suck (Although I wouldn't mind if he kept is mouth shut more often, but the same thing goes for Arnott). The chants add to a competitive atmosphere. Hockey is not a sport like golf or tennis. It's OK to be loud. Let the ref know that you think he sucks. Especially if it's Mick McPoo. I know some of you wish the Joe was louder. I sat next to a Wings fan at the last game here and we had a great talk. We just talked hockey the whole game. He told me how impressed he was by how loud the arena was. He wished that the Joe had more fans that were willing to lose their inhibitions and be more vocal. Don't forget that hockey is a game, people. It's meant to be fun. Take everything that fans say with a grain of salt...they're just enjoying themselves and supporting their team. Oh...and...Red Wings suck! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

We've got an inuit running around hitting everything that moves, a goalie who looks like a terrorist and another like a caveman. And we've got some chants in our arena that you won't find in too many pro sports venues... but that's who we are, and I don't think anyone who seriously takes the time and effort to find out what Predators hockey is about could possibly come away with so much criticism. NKYWingsFan 4 Report post Posted April 3, 2007 I'm going to add my 2 cents here, FWIW... Preds fans are just fine and no more obnoxious than any others out there. I went to a Wings/Preds playoff game a few years back down in Nashvegas. I was surrounded by Preds fans in the upper bowl. Heck, I was darned near the only Wings fan in the entire section. There was one other Wing fan about 15 rows above me (just north of the nosebleeds). The chants of "You suck!" came from a section on the opposite side of the bowl from me - I think they were "sponsored" by a local radio station. The couple sitting next to me, decked out in as much Preds gear as they could fit on their bodies, spent most of the game tsk-tsking the loud and obnoxious fans across the bowl. Bottom line for me is this: The Preds fans treated me very nicely during my visit. I was surrounded by 'em going in, and I was surrounded by 'em when I came out. Not one made me feel uncomfortable.
