Matt 1,049 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 My main point is that I highly doubt Bert is the type of player that would sit himself out if his neck hurt a little bit. Agreed. I really wish we could get some news on the results of these "baseline tests". Is this something Bertuzzi has on a daily basis? Surely the "results" haven't taken this long. I wonder how bad the prognosis is?
omnipotent_hudler 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 1. I really doubt Bert would sit out if he was cleared to go, unless he has an injury which is so badly affecting him that he thinks he'd hurt the team rather than help it by being on the ice. Honestly I just think he isn't being allowed to play. 2. I don't think Bertuzzi would make a big difference against Calgary anyways, Calgary knows what to expect when it comes to Bert from all the time they had playing against him while he was in Vancouver. Certainly it'd be better to have him on the ice, but in the end if the Wings can't beat Calgary without him they're in a lot of trouble anyways. 3. We didn't get to be #1 seed in the Western conference because of Bertuzzi, we have the personnel to make up for his absence, I think. Hopefully F ranzen, Filp and Hudler get some more ice time in his absence.

auxlepli 17 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 Lebda's hit versus Bert's fall is totally irrelevant. The thing about concussions though is that even the slightest hit can knock you out whether it looks bad or not. It's similar to a guy getting hit in the testicles. I remember I was at work, and a girl through a paper ball at me. I missed catching it - call me a sieve - and it hit me in just the right spot. Instantly I was on the ground howling. She of course thought I was joking, but it laid me out. True.

Hatchet Barry 71 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 Man I sure hope he's good to go for Sunday. The Wings sure could use his size against the Flames.
DBR 12 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 We should know by now that if we don't treat EVERY game as an elimination game, we'll get bounced in the 1sst round again. As for Bert, I at least want medical information. They havn't given us ANYTHING. Did he fail he tests? Did he take the tests yet? What are the tests? Does he have headaches? Dizziness? Does his neck hurt? What is the actualy problem(s)???? Thats what I want to know. All I get is :he sat out practice again, he will miss game 1. Nothing about his actual condition. I'm sick of all this. We are only hearing slight details because i;t's playoff time and we don't want to gave the opposing team any ammunition. We're not gonna know until we're done for the season -- after we win the Cup. GO WINGS!!!
Barrie 900 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 Isn't 30 hours before the game a little to soon to say if someone is playing or not? Sounds a little strange to be giving out this kind of news before game day.
datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 Babs is fricken hilarious. He's so impatient with getting Z back in the lineup. He's like a kid who was given his favorite toy 3 weeks ago, but was told he couldn't play with it until tomorrow. lol

We already have enough of a time keeping her in line 'round here.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 Heres the deal with concussions: They're difficult to self diagnose, so its easy to see why Bert kept playing after he took the fall. mild concussion symptoms are generally confusion and amnesia- and if you've ever taken a big check no matter who you are, if you get up, you're getting up confused. And theres no way to know if you have amnesia, simply because you can't be aware of it, especially if its only 5-10 minutes of lost memories. So whats the problem if those are the only symptoms ol' Bert's having? Good question! You see, concussions are injuries to the brain, and usually for about 2 weeks after one gets a concussion, the brain is extra susceptible to serious injury, including permanent mental damage, which as you should all know can easily end a career. So its not so much the fact that Bertie is in too much pain to play, but its more of a precautionary measure to make sure he'll be playing next year. I hope that cleared up any confusion. Surely the "results" haven't taken this long. I wonder how bad the prognosis is? i wonder also if this could have something to do with his back. maybe he's tweaked it a little. that collision with osgood was pretty hard. Isn't 30 hours before the game a little to soon to say if someone is playing or not? Sounds a little strange to be giving out this kind of news before game day. not necessarily. but it leads me to believe the decision was out of bert's hands and was the trainer's or doctor's. if it was up to bert i'm sure it would be a game time decision. HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 http://www.mlive.com/weblogs/snapshots/ind..._04.html#247990 Bert didn't talk to the media today. Also, Babs said he hasn't been cleared to play yet. I wonder if this is just a matter of not having got the test results back yet?
DBR 12 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 (edited) I just listened to an audio clip from Kenny Holland from today from MLive. He said it is not definite that Bertuzzi won't play tomorrow -- he hasn't felt good since the weekend, but he felt better today than yesterday. Tomorrow's practice will be the crucial decision as to whether or not Bert will paly tomorrow night. MLive (Click on the link that says, "WDFN: Ken Holland." BTW, I just found out I'm going to be at the game toorrow night!!!!!!! I am soooooooooooo excited, I can't wait!! GO WINGS!!!!!!
