edicius 3,269 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 I don't know if this has been discussed or not in the GDT, but I'm not thrilled with Sammy playing point on the PP. I know the right hand shot opens things up for Lidstrom, but you're taking a huge gamble there. I was even less a fan of the move when we up 3-0 and he was still back there. Babcock just doesn't seem to have a good grasp on positioning for the power play. I never thought of it until now, but it's probably part of why our power play suffered this season. PolskAltima 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 P.S. For anyone who watched the game on Versus; how about Hitchcock in the studio. He was surprisingly very good. He broke down clearly why the Wings were winning, and even gave us props by calling the Z, Dats, Homer line the best in hockey. us in Detroit could only watch it on FSN or CBC... VS was blacked out... i prefer FSN to VS anyways... cant wait to see Bert in game 2, especially with the tone that game ended on..... oh yea... i can only imagine the hitting and tone this game will have... this is the reason why we got Bertuzzi... :starwars:
Legionnaire11 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 very solid game by the Wings. This series is going to be over in a hurry if the flames can't muster any more offense than that. The Wings showed that they can not only stand up to Calgary's physical play, but totally match it. Kipper looked bad tonight, and the flames pulled out their usual goon squad tactics. I hate the flames
Airborn 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 He'll have a tough time manning the point from the bench, if all goes well... One of Lidstrom or Schneider will always be manning one point on the PP... just sub Lebda in the other spot. Not bad. I agree, Lebda should sub in. One of the reasons I think Babs went away from playing Lidstrom the whole PP is because he wants him at all times on the ice against Iginla. I don't think Iginla kills penalties, so Calgary would just put him out there after the PP to get him away from Lids. I don't see why Schneider couldn't play the whole time though. Airborn 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 (edited) i prefer FSN to VS anyways... I do too; unfortunately I don't have that option. I really miss Mickey and Ken! what are u talking about???? Kipper was very good, except the team in front of him was not. Tell me which goal he gave up was bad??? Yeah, Kipper was great. It could have been 8-0. Edit: Oops - should have said 8-1 Edited April 13, 2007 by Airborn

The best part was watching the little guys like Pavel, Hank, Flip, and Rex standing up Flames coming in to rough them up. The Wings, from Lang to Lilja, took NO s*** tonight. Airborn 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 can't wait. Unfortunately, hudler is the likely candidate to sit. I agree; especially if Babcock thinks Sammy adds something on the point of the PP. I feel for Huds; he and Filppula both played good tonight.
C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 attendance = 19,204. I have a feeling this is the first non-sellout in years. Just thought I'd point out that that sells out every building in the league except maybe 3 or 4 (ours, Montreal, one or two others). This with the cheapest tickets being $60+. You won't see me going Chicken Little on this one, and we only helped ticket sales Sunday and after with our play tonight.

Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 can't wait. Unfortunately, hudler is the likely candidate to sit. Looking at the ice time for today, it is a definite possiblity, even though Hudler shouldn't be the one to sit. Samuelsson played 15:25 while Hulder played 9:15. And Flip played even less at 8:20. I just don't see what Babcock's love feast with Samuelsson on the point is.

Unless Babcock does the unthinkable and decides to sit Bertuzzi out. I can see it now: Bertuzzi has a strained...uh...um...uh...upper body injury, pull. Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Allright, just got back! Great game, very exciting atmosphere. I was in Sec. 119, right behind the Calgary net. After Dat's scored, I looked to the sky and thanked the Lord! The streak is over!
