GAME 1 (4/12): Red Wings 4, Flames 1

I have to say, Playfair is one of the mellowest guys I've ever seen. The Flames played pretty bad, and all he did was scratch his chin! He didn't get vocal or anything.

Now, let's keep it that way Jimmy! :P

Sutter isn't the outburst type.

We're more likely to see him have a "cryptic comment burst that reads like a poem"

I know, but one can only dream. Unfortunately he's a class act. Damn him!

Cleary didnt try to run Kipper , What I wouldnt have given up to have Sean Avery , Derian Hatcher , Chris Neil and Todd Bertuzzi on the ice when the flames decdied to get "tough"

OH , and Iginla is a dirty player , running aorund and hitting after whistles isnt very canadian like Jarome ;)

One more funny photo for the night...

IPB Image

The Pain Train, having lived up to his moniker, looks exhausted. Markov ponders a manicure.

hahahahaha pain train looks spent.

(he actually looked pretty good tonight!)

Had to DVR this as I had to go to the wife's concert. Just finished and man, that was a really solid performance. Hank looked better than expected and Dom was solid although Kipper made some great saves. If the Wings can keep the forcheck up and Dom stays solid, well, that could help in the series and beyond. Looking forward the next game as I will be there in the lower bowl near center ice (never had such great seats).

Had a business meeting tonight and watched the DVR version. Man, the Wings look great. Certainly, Calgary looked like a Minor league team, but the next game is big, big, big!!!! If the Wings can keep up the tenacity and aggressive forecheck, this will be an interesting playoffs.

I think that this game can help most of us settle in and excercise our playoff demons.

GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cup:

Help! Please...I have a Marine who deployed from San Diego this past Tuesday morning and his parting request was that I get DVD recordings of the Red Wings play-off games and send them to him so he can watch them! Can someone help me with this? I had a friend Tivo the game tonight and she cut off the last 2 minutes plus of the game (it must have gone longer than the published time). Can anyone help me get a copy of the game on DVD or have any ideas for me? Thanking you greatly in advance...M.

I love reading these posts....they are so amusing :lol:

Better start planning that Parade route,

You have just won the cup by winning one game against the Calgary Flames.....

Congratulations.

Relax, man. Chill out. Enjoy the series. Besides, the wings have a proven parade route. The same one they used in '97, '98, and in '02! :D

I appreciate your knowledge about the game tonight and in general, Jiggy. It was quite difficult to see the Flames just unwilling to get involved in anything, I was hoping for a closer game, hopefully Game 2 brings that to fruition. I love your passion and love the fact that you call a spade a spade, you represent the Flames organization and their fans very well, kudos!

Wow, thanks Amigo!

Who cares about the game barely not selling out, the Devils haven't sold out a game all year!

Because this is the playoffs and we are Hockeytown. The Devils have rotten attendance and their arena is surrounded by several square miles of asphalt in a swamp. Why stoop to comparing to them?

Hindsight is 20/20 but... this is a comical pre-game comment from Jim Playfair regarding Homer:

"He won't be a problem," coach Jim Playfair insisted, already sounding annoyed. "He's a competitive player that goes hard to the net. But with the new rules you're not allowed to go hard to the net. So the referees can take care of him. And our defensemen can take care of him."

...One assist and one perfect screen later, who's taking care of who? :D

What is Playfair talking about? You can't go hard to the net with the new rules? Oh, I see. Sorry, Jimbo, but Holmstrom has gone to the net and planted himself in front of it in each of the 78 games he's played this year. Thanks for playing though.

All I have is a VHS copy of the game. If you have a DVD recorder I would gladly send you my tape though.

he looks like he's daring Amonte to try and race the Pain Train to the crossing before the gates come down.

:siren: That was the quote of the night :siren:

I cant stop laughing at that picture!

You people and the empty seats. I swear, it's like a dog whistle or something.

The attendance wasn't that bad. There were a few empty seats here and there, but it's not like entire rows were unfilled. Besides, the energy level of the crowd shadowed all that anyways.

There will be empty seats people. Just deal with it. Unless Mike Illitch lowers these outrageous ticket prices, which he won't, there will be empty seats. It's just too much money that you're going to spend on one night in a state where the majority of the population are currently out of work as it is. 10 years ago, this would have been a non-issue, because the economy was decent. But at this point in time, it is an issue.

Man that Dion Phaneuf is a jackass for trying to rip Zetterberg's head off. I think Bert needs to pay him a visit when Phaneuf is going after a dumped puck in his own zone.

Im sure if Phaneuf's back is turned Bertuzzi will oblige
