I absolutely LOVE him to pieces. LOL DAN IS THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!! MVP BY FAR. Oh how I love that pic! It is hard to believe that one of Danny Cleary's biggest flaws upon him coming into the league was his work ethic. You'd never ever guess he used to have a work ethic problem in a million years right now. He works his ass off day in and day out.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 I love Dan Cleary. He played out of his mind tonight, and has been this whole series. Great job Danny!

clutchngrab 12 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 I thought he was slumping a bit in the later half of the season, but there is no doubt he has upped his game for the playoffs. Hitting hard and skating fast. The goal is a bonus.
redwinger4747 6 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Right now in my mind, it feels like Dan Cleary is the heart and soul of the team. Not in an Yzerman way, but in a McCarty way (McCarty of 10 years ago). Cleary is just doing everything, working as hard as he can. Most heart on the team right now! Offsides 21 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Cleary = Hero Cleary's not a hero. You know who's a Hero...Hiro from Heroes. Okay, probably no one will get that... Aww, love that group hug picture, ha ha. Cleary's been awesome, can't say enough about him, especially lately. I was so upset when he took that spill in the game...I thought, oh no, we are losing a vital asset to our team. He's been a powerhouse...full of energy and just doing everything right. Gotta love that!
Henkka 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 The guy is really awesome and what is even more awesome, is his contract. 650k for one more year. He should earn a pay-raise.

gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 guys like Cleary and Franzen are guys you need around to win in the playoff's...they step up their game and contribute and they bring the grit and tenacity to the plate that you need to win games. Huge fan. I figured that the crazy scoring wouldn't stick through the whole season but I knew he'd be a hard worker throughout and a good character guy going into the playoff's and he has certainly achieved above even my relatively lofty expectations. Pucker 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 What can you say about Dan Cleary? Heart that defines what hockey is all about, over-achiever, the guy who was lucky to be on the team? Danny was indeed lucky to get on the Wings, he got there out of heart and determination. And he has become THE highlight player on the club. He reminds me a lot of #19, but without the god given tallent.
Guest LivingtheDream Report post Posted April 22, 2007 All the conversations going on about this game have been focused on the negatives: like Lebda's conscussion, Langkow's suckerpunch, Noodles' hack/wack/slash on Franzen. So I thought I'd bring up a huge positive for the Wings: Dan Cleary. The man has been amazing. When he went down in the second I was really worried about losing him for tomorrow night's game. His shootout goal was a beauty and his reaction was priceless. The story of Danny Cleary and not being wanted only a few short years ago to being a huge part of a team is a great thing to see. Now I avid Cleary fan, so I'd like to hear what everyone else has to say about the guy, beyond my biased mind. Plus, any others props you'd like to give to other Wings players. Let's focus on our teams huge win, not on Calgary's crapass, sore losing mentality. Great post SIA! Allow me to indulge in some positive thinking. Cleary is everything a hockey player should be in the playoffs. Can we say the guy has grit? Damn right. He comes to play 100% and that, as we all know, is not as common as you think. His making that penalty shot was another indicator of how clutch this guy can be. He thought about it, he had a plan and as a result he deked a pretty damn good goalie. Other positives for me include Hasek, but I think he has even better games in store. Hank and Pavel coming through is fantastic. Lilja for crying out loud is playing smart. Another fantastic psotive is Flip. Hudler too - they both had some real close ones last night and it all came from 100% hustle. I expect them to make a difference too. Of the two, Flip has really come through. Huds will too I think, he just needs more of a chance. Franzen is playing solid and tough. Bert though shaky has come through here and there as he gets back to his old self. Cheli has been a ROCK and his goal yesterday was icing on the cake. Draper has been very good and his two goal contribution the other day was fantastic. Then of course, there is the Captian keeping it all together. Babcock! I was really hard on him after we lost game 4, but he did adjust and it worked. I don't think he is as stubborn as I thought. As a team, these Wings are different. All of this adversity and tough games are making them more of a true team every day. Different people come through when they need to and they are sticking up for each other. They are playing hard and driving to the net, all of them (well, there is one, but I am supposed to be positive here). It is a great thing to see. We may be smaller and more skilled, but you can't say we are just pretty and not gritty any more.
