Big Berts Small Game

Yeah, we've got too many sappers in the ranks! I believe in Big Bert and he's a welcome addition to the team. Bertuzzi is doing fine and will just get better and better as he feels more comfortable. If you are a Wings fan you aren't helping him any by criticizing him during the post-season. You are not Scotty, we don't care about your amateur critiques. I hope Todd scores again in Game Six, just to shut you whiners up.

Great win tonight, the winged wheel is rolling baby! Keep it going!

Bertuzzi has been gun shy since the whole Steve Moore incedent. I think he is embarrassed about what he did, and because of this, he hesitant to play the tough brand of hockey which made him so successful.

Ive seen glimpses of brilliance, but they are few and far between. I think it will just take a while for him to get his game back and become confident. Whether or not Detroit is the place for him to regain his composure or not is up to management.

I'm still pulling for the guy to have a break out game coming up here.

I thought Bert played really well today, driving to the net with the puck hitting.. Anyone who thought he would be an instant scoring threat coming back from the serious back injury he had are crazy.. I think he's just going to get better as we move along in the playoffs

Anyone who expected 2003 Bertuzzi was nuts.

That said, Bertuzzi has been the single worst player on the team most nights in the playoffs. Some of it may be rust, some of it may be that he's gunshy. I don't care why,the fact is that he is the worst regular skater on the team this playoffs. Because of his size and what he MIGHT be capable of, he simply can't be scratched, but he certainly hasn't done anything to warrant being played as much time as he has been getting.

He looked pretty good today.

It's been said already, but the rust is to be expected; he's coming back from major surgery, and he has to not only try to regain form, but also do so within the Wings' system. That's no easy task, and I think he's doing pretty well considering.

If we go on to play Anaheim, it should be a slower-paced series, which I think will work to his advantage.

He played much better today. He said before the game to Pierre Mcguire that he felt pressure, because he new guys were dogging him in the media.

I think he needed the kick in the pants.

I feel like he's one of those guys that can only go cold for so long, regardless of the circumstances. A guy like Sammy -- it could have easily been another two years before he netted one. But Bert can really respond when he's got a big chip on his shoulder.

Simply NOT true. Bertuzzi has not been the worst player on the team MOST NIGHTS. Perhaps 1 or 2 games he had bad games. I'm not saying he hasn't been mediocre at times, and he hasn't lived up to what people think his potential is...but to say he's been the worst player on the team most nights is a big exaggeration.

Uhhh wrong again :P

honest question, did you watch the game? Because bert had a huge hit to level one of the sharks players, and drove to the net many times, once nearly scoring

Uhhh how many points did he get again? :)

if you honestly think hockey is all about points, then youre sorely wrong. Your main man drapes isnt about points, its about what he does on the ice on the side. But of all people I assumed you would know that

I cant believe so many people here defending him, making dumb excuses,if the guy isnt ready to play why is he playing? The guys a bum i"ve seen him play enough his playing days are over hes all washed up.

Again, hes been slow recently, but today looked much better. And you havent answered my questions.

1. you really think points is all that matters? Shows how much you know

2. did you watch the game, he drove hard to the net

3. you claim he didnt lay anyone out, but he did, placed a huge hit

waiting for something substancial instead of your opinion, which I am sure everyone knows by now, just fyi

Coming off of major surgery isn't a "dumb excuse," nor is trying to adjust to a brand-new system.

if the guy isnt ready to play why is he playing?

1. Because he's capable of playing and contributing. Just not to his full potential. Yet.

2. Because it's the playoffs.

Okay #1-Bertuzzi supposed to be an offensive player,so yeah points count

#2-I watched the game,he drove hard to the net twice which =0 points

#3-One huge hit, guess that makes him a superstar

1. so is draper...no points...so is cleary no points....but they bring insane benefits from being on the ice period.

2. Still an improvement

3. no, but you said he didnt do anything, and 1 hit is big on a team which doesnt have an army of big hitters.

Thanks for responding with something substantial though

The difference is Draper is a defensive player,Bertuzzi is supposed to be offensive.

what about cleary? Seriously, what im trying to argue is first of all, not all forwards are meant to be scoring forwards. While bert is known to sometimes have soft hands, he is considered a power forward. He is there to make room for the finesse players like dats or Z to have room to shoot. Flip played very well today, and id like to think that bert keeping some guys off him had something to do with that
