Schneider: OUT with Broken Wrist

A couple weeks ago Kronner said that if the Wings get to the Conference finals that he'd be able to play then. Not getting ahead of myself..but just stating what I read.

i know i'll get beaten down for saying this, but kronwall didn't exactly impress me this year, and he's going to be very rusty and not in game shape, i think it'd be better to bring up meech, who hasn't had the layoff.

Ugh. We will likely see an increased dose of samuelsson and lidstrom on the PP. I expect lebda to take schneider place when he returns, but lebda doesn't have as big of a shot as him.

Lebda is no good on the PP. He is inferior to Schneider in every conceivable way (except for speed to get back on a bone headed turnover...). Hopefully Sammy can step up. He got Nabby today, so, you know, awesome.

Don't worry. I think Kronwall sucks too, so you're not the only one.

maybe this'll give everybody some fire to step up their games even more. that, and we'll have another young body back on d, that's a good thing.

guys, babcock just said a few moments ago that it will be meech and erickson.

when asked about lebda, he commented on the fact that doctors believe it would

be a real risk trying to speed up the healing process. babs said doctors have

been planning on a mid-third round return for brett.

i'm ok with the young guys getting the call. they will be paired with some veteran

leadership, it's not like they will be on the ice at the same time.

a set back, sure... but we'll overcome.

While struggling with consistency most of the season Kronwall was playing his best hockey before he was injured. He really came on when Markov missed time due to injury earlier this year.

I'm having horrible visions of Lebda getting abused by Thornton's line Monday night....

Lebda is a good passer. He can set up Nick perfectly fine. If he can do that, then hes an automatic asset on the point given that he can recover from any miscues with his speed from the point. Sammy cant do that, but he has a decent shot when he picks his spots well/gets the puck on net. I actually think Babcock's solution to this will be a slight change in the PP philosophy. Well see a lot more down low play next game just like we did today, which seemed to work very well.

Well if Lebda isn't ready to go for game 6 then the real question should be: Do you trust Meech, a guy that hasn't played much with the team and is more or less as good as Quincey or do you convert a forward into a d-man ala Federov?

I would be in favor of maybe putting Maltby on defense since he is an awesome penalty killer but then again we would be sacrificing his offensive zone play. The better bet would be Meech.

Kronner sucks?

100% disagree.

The guy has all the potential in the world. He's physical, he's fast, jumps into the rush, pinches in, makes great passes, and has a pretty decent shot. He's a very good d-man. He's just been very unlucky.

Well with Schneider gone I'd rather have as many options as I possibly can.

Meech is a better option. Kronwall is totally out of shape, and it's coming on 2 months since he's played. Bad choice.

Kronwall has never impressed me this season. The puck could be glued to his stick and he'd still lose it. He does hit, but not on a consistant basis.

I agree HC, the guy has just been unlucky with injuries. Once he get's fit and gain's some confidence in his abilities . He'll be a great player for us.

yeah, krownwall was playing pretty well before he got hurt. i'm just not convinced of his decision making and some of his i'll-advised pinching and passing, and the sharks are a team that can seriously make us pay for those mistakes. i think a d-man committing to defense soley would be better than a rusty kronwall who plays aggressive offensively when often he shouldn't be. this team is giving the puck away much too much as it is. just my two cents.

This brings up thought: just how well would any other playoff team do with 3 of their top 6 d-men out? I simply cannot believe - yet I do laugh - at all the negative press our team gets.

Anyways, our guys still haven't played the perfect game we all know they can, but they're getting close. When they show up to play, not many can compete with us. Let's end this thing in Game #6. :D

Kronwall's injury-prone. This much seems true. But he sucks?

He really came on this year, especially when Danny was hurt.
