I know that the Pain Train is playing awsome , but doesn't it annoy anybody that he's capable of playing like that and has never before the Playoff's this season?

Well im glad he's stepped up his play when it really counts ;)

He was playing much better the last couple months leading up to the playoffs (especially throughout March).

He'll need to be even better now that Schneids is out for the playoffs.

A simple case of trying to do too much. When he did play earlier, it was like a loan, if he didnt play well he was benched, so he tried to "overplay". Now that he knows he can play well, with little repercussions, he's taken it and shone. He's beginning to realize his place on the team also.

Continue the great play, Andreas.

Annoying: Are you crazy; it makes me umbelievably giddy, because I never thought he was capable of playing at half the level he's at.

That's not what I mean. I mean I feel annoyed in a good way as in the guy could have a great career if he played like that his whole career.

I saw glimpses of "significant" Lilja during the season when we faced those physical teams - ie. Philly or Ducks. he was strong in those cases.

I fully expected him to play some role in intense playoff games, but I definitely did not expect him to stop turnovers and play that focused. not even to mention his sticking for teammates. Pain Train has been a big surprise to me then :)

I knew what you meant - I was just kidding.

Completely agree! With his turnovers last playoffs, and below mediocre play at the start of the season, I am in a giddy state of shock (happily) with his current play. While he was showing signs of strong defensive play, on occasion, I think there was a defining moment when he stepped up, and his game has changed since. His first redwings fight (Moen). ENTER the PAIN TRAIN!!!

Why not just be happy that he's playing well now?

Sheesh.

Well the Pain Train has been with the Wings for a couple of season's now and he's never played like this before. I was just trying to get some people's opinion on the subject.

Don't you see what's going on here?!

It is the name!! Before he was Andreas Lilja. Who's that. An accountant? Now he is the PAIN TRAIN!!

Who would you expect to play better?! Exactly.

It's like the difference between Clark Kent and Superman, or Peter Parker and Spiderman. You can't control when someone turns into a superhero. The only thing you know is that nothing will ever be the same. The only thing now to be afraid of is that someone will find out what is his kryptonite.

Sheesh indeed. Please refrain from commenting on a marked improvement or degredation in performance by any player or team around here. There are no mentions of the past, or future. Well....not in 2% of other threads anyway.

Glad you posted this thread - I refuse to give Lilja any props until he tilts the scales to 'even' for his play over the last few 150 games or so. He's getting close......I'm still awaiting a Lilja-like-game-losing play. If that doesn't happen during this run? I'm starting a thread of my own the other way.
