Samuelsson - Time to give the guy some kudos

Seeing Samuelsson get his first playoff goal put a huge smile on my face. I'm well aware and don't ignore his weaknesses of shooting a bit too much when the shots are unscreened etc., but I think he's actually played a fairly solid series, physical to some extent, and trying to create some chances, even though some are wasted in typical Samuelsson fashion.

Let's raise a :chug: to Samuelsson!

I dunno, he weighs around 210 (I think), that doesn't seem so skinny.

Here's to Sammy!

I had a thought that Babcock pulled him into the dressing room and said "Go."

anyone else notice his step up in play after Schneids was gone?

KNowing when to shoot can help this guy. Big goal for him sure, but it was Hank, Homer and Pavel out there who were making everything happen. Sammy needs to let the smart and skilled guys be the leaders and that will help.

I'm far from his biggest fan, but it was nice to see Samuelsson hit the net today. With Schneider out, it will be even more important for Sammy to contribute and be strong on the point with the first power play unit. Hopefully, this goal is a confidence builder and gets him rolling. Go Red Wings!

I'm posting to support good ol' Sammy. Hes another great example of a player the Wings have found in the junkpile, dusted off, shined up, and look at him now! I met Sammy in Westland Mall awhile back just after he signed his multi-year deal with the Wings, and I told him I was really happy he got a contract, and glad to have him on the team. Even though his play can seem...futile at times, hes got SKILLZ...he can make things happen every now and then. Kudos to him and the Red Wings organization for having him on the team and in the lineup!

Sammys right handed blast from the point can be very useful when he moves into different postions , which he did. He's getting smarter , like all of our players have

With the injuries we've had through the regular season as well as the recent D-men problems we NEED all our players to be smarter.

Sammy boy has been great. I was actually quite suprised how poised he looked on defense for the most part. Hell, even getting that crucial goal on D. Gotta love it. Our swedish connection far superior to any other NHL team. I can't wait to see more!

Did anyone else catch Pierre calling him the human shot machine or something along those lines? I thought it was funny.

I guess he goes by not how many goals he scores, but how many shots he takes. Hence being the human shot machine. :P

Fine, I'll be the guy that brings down the thread.

I'll give no kudos to Sammy. While he may be playing more physical, I still don't think he's brought anything of real value to the table these playoffs. 1 goal (on the PP no less) on 27 shots, which is 3.7% doesn't deserve any kudos if you ask me.

True, he's helping out in other ways, such as physicality against a big, physical SJ offense, but he's not helping out in the scoring department practically at all.

I'd rather have Hudler out there.

Had to be one, Hudler had his chance against the sharks, and he got manhandled like a little school boy. I love huddles, but honestly hes too small to be out there against the likes of the san jose lines

Care to give any more insight on that?

player love-fest threads for one stinking playoff goal are kinda lame. no kuddos for mikey "high & wide" samuelsson till he shows me something more. bobby lang's equalizer in game 4 definitely gets an "atta-boy", but sammy's pp insurance goal doesn't really impress me. with schnides out, we'll see if sammy can rise to the occasion.

I've always been a fan. and for the record, my friends and I were just waiting for him to score in this game. We were calling in from his first shift. "he's gonna score tonight, I'm telling you!" and when it happened we were like, "I knew it!' The kid's a great player
