Why shouldn't I dread this series vs. Anaheim?

Psst! Superstition!

(We just took out the toughest team we'll play. I'm much more confident heading into this one. They're good on D and Giguere is better than Nabokov, but they aren't as good or as deep up front and they haven't played anyone that can put the puck in the net like we can. The only thing that scares me in this series is Giguere's record in playoff overtime. But we've got the best goalie of his era, and he's at the top of his game once again.)

I agree with you on this one!!! 2007 the year of Red Retribution!!!!

He always does and will always grudge that we wanted Brian Murray to coach and not him! He will always be a Wing hater. His picks against us are good luck for us. I'll say it again, I am thrilled that versus decided not to pick him (or he decided to stay with ESPN).

He Sucks!!!

By the way, has anyone else noticed that if we beat Anaheim, it's going to be Hasek's personal revenge series no matter who we'd play in the Finals.

Ottawa especially would be like "Oh fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudggggggge" at the prospect of seeing him in the Finals after they didn't want him back. Thank you very much!

What's that? A couple of your boys hugging as Christy supervises? Alright.

Ottawa?!

What about Buffalo?!

Great story-lines either way if we end up getting past Anaheim.

No competition, eh?

Well, you wingers better not count your eggs before they hatch! :P

But I will say that it will be a good series. Most definitely. No way will one team win it easily.

You guys sure did leave out a lot about the Ducks.

I saw someone mention this, but Scotty/Prongs will be on the ice for most of the time. Last series, Kent Huksins and Joe DiPenta barely saw ice time, very little they did indeed. So that'll be a challenge for your offense.

Also, our checking line was able to stifle the Canucks' best duo of Henrik and Daniel Sedin. AND they managed to get themselves some points for the board. Ducks basically have three scoring lines they can score from, with Selanne-McDonald-Kuntiz and the kid line/PPG line of Penner-Getzlaf-Perry. And like I just mentioned, that checking line has been scoring some key goals for us in games lately, (Sami Pahlsson scores first goal in game 5 against Vancouver, Travis Moen scores OTGWG in Game 4) so you know, these Ducks aren't just a simple bump in the road.

And we haven't even begun talking about Giguere.

Now, in no way am I saying "HEY MY TEAM IS BETTER THAN YOURS AND THEY WILL KICK YOUR SORRY BUTTS!" but I certainly would like for you all to know that you are somewhat under-estimating the Ducks.

They'll surprise you if you take them too lightly. They are a tough team who like to hit the bodies, so just be aware of that.

Overall, I'm very excited about this series. Should be a good one!

Well...I mean Hasek wanted out of Buffalo. And it was a few years ago. Ottawa didn't want him back after last season. I imagine he's the last guy they'd want to see in the Finals. Especially since had they kept him, the Wings wouldn't be in a position to potentially go back. There's absolutely no way we'd be back in the WCF without Dom on our roster.

The only thing more intriguing would be if Ted Nolan's Islanders had made it....

This is going to be a great series vs. the Ducks though. I'm so excited that we've got a shot to get back to the Finals!

It's amazing how fast stuff can change. A few days ago, with a minute left in Game 4, I thought we were done for. Then Big Shot Bob somehow manages to not turn the puck over and score a goal....and now we're in the WCF again.

There's really nothing like playoff hockey.

I echo the statement by Quutamo up there... We have to be careful that we don't underestimate this team. It's easy to do that after beating a rough and tough opponent like SJ. Pronger is a beast, Niedermayer is a stud, Giggy is a brick wall, and hasn't anyone ever seen Mighty Ducks 1,2 or 3? Ducks fly together! :P

But in all seriousness... it's gonna be tough series. I think we can take 'em, and have nothing but faith in my Wiings, but let's not jump to hasty conclusions. This will be challenging.

Couple of problems:

1. Pronger and Niedermayer will be out there probably 80% of the time. No team has had 2 studs like that together for decades. Imagine having 2 Lidstrom's. It will be a factor and its foolish to think otherwise. Plus, they are contributing offensively, which is bad news for opponents.

2. Giguere is playing lights out hockey. Isn't he leading the league in most goalie stats? I dunno, just thought I noticed that.

He also beat us once before. That's a big boost to one's mental state of mind.

3. Getzlaf, Perry, Penner, Kunitz, all their young guys are contributing. They're showing no signs of being young and timid.

4. Their D has scored 7 goals in 10 games. That's great production to go with all that offensive firepower.

IMO, anybody who thinks the Sharks were the best team we'd face in these playoffs is living a dream. Nothing wrong with being optimistic but crazy is still crazy. The Ducks were fighting for 1st overall in the NHL all season basically for many reasons. They're big, strong, tough, physical, fast, young and yadda, yadda. We faced that before. But besides being all of these things the Ducks are just flat out better than the Flames or the Sharks.

I'm hoping for a strong showing but our injuries on D trouble me. Kyle Calder's play troubles me. He needs to be better. Bert needs to be better and we need some production from the 3rd/4th lines. We can beat the Ducks I think. But they're still the best team we're gonna face in the West and frankly, that's the way it ought to be. I think the 2 best Western teams are meeting up and that is okay by me.

1- Pronger has only once in his whole career gave the Wings trouble. And Niedermayer hasn't done anything against us since 1995. Very good D but c'mon, lets not make them something their not.

2- You need to recheck the stats.....there is a Detroit Goalie that is tops in numbers too. Again, very good goalie, but he is not the Dominator.

3&4 - The Wild and the Canaucks are good teams to pad your stats against. You can bet that if the Wings played those teams that our stats would look far much better then they do now. The Wings are more than ready to take on the Ducks. If you think the Ducks are a better team then the Sharks then maybe it is you that is living a dream....or trying to make up a nightmare. Anything could happen but if things keep going the way they are and have been..........Wings in 5. GO WINGS

You guys underestimate O'donnell and Huskins as our 4,5 guys. They aint the best 4,5 guys, but they are solid. Dipenta, however worries me. Hpefully Jackman plays. Also, we've only had really 3 lines thus far, but we're getting Todd Marchant back, and with him we can roll 4 lines again.

We don't have to be careful about doing anything. Nor does what we do matter. The wings need to be careful, but knowing Babcock and the Wings, they won't underestimate at all. I don't see this team being too cocky, and I think they definitely recognize the threat that Anaheim is.

But why is everyone forgetting that babcock gives us an edge here as well. He knows some of these players, and he especially knows jiggy. I think he will be an x factor for sure.

To be precise, the players from the 2003 team still with us are:

Andy Mac

Jiggy

Rob Naidermayer

Samuel Pahlsson
