hockeysattva 8 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 For what its worth I have gone to the Pond to see the Wings win and to see them lose, it was way better than the same story in Staples. I give more credit to Ducks fans than Kings fans, which I have recently learned I appreciate more than Sharks fans. I said this part to the Sharks fans, and will say it you all as well. We have lots of Hockey fans here, most of us root for the Wings but we are really fans of good hockey more than anything. You have a good team, and they have a goal tender who I will never forget. However, this all goes I think the best team will win the Cup this year. Do not expect this to go less than six games.

The Booth 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Much rather play a team like Detroit that the DUCK can physically dominate. And all this Hasek talk can get stashed. The whole last three weeks all we heard was "Luong this, Luongo that" and by the end of game one ROBERTO was planted firmly on the end of the bench. Duck in 4. (And by the way, another site is disney.com.com, a lot less watered down, pure hockey insight to be had there. A little bit more of a rougher crowd, as there are no mods and no reall guidelines so to speak, say what you want to when you want to... Most duck fans learn to avoid Alldorks.com after they get their posts "Mod Approved" everytime they try to say something.....) Good luck Wings.
akustyk 84 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 (edited) Hi! we sure hope this is gonna be a good series, too. though, most posters here will rather lean towards the team in red to win it welcome and enjoy the series here! EDIT: I sure like those new Ducks jersey more. that Disney Duck crap was so childish that it was pretty disgrace to be rooting for the team if you were adult. or just 12+ Edited May 8, 2007 by akustyk
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Much rather play a team like Detroit that the DUCK can physically dominate. No bigger or more physical than Calgary or San Jose. Difference is A.) the Wings have a lot more in store than their goalie, which Vancouver did not and B.) Luongo was a playoff noob. You can't find a more seasoned playoff vet in the NHL than Hasek in net.

Granted, Vanloser was essentially a one man team, and the wings have a few more scoring threats, but this Wing team is not nearly as talented as Wing teams of the past. Depth is a serious issue, and thats never a good thing when playing a team like the DUCK that is looking to put players in the hospital. Hasek better not be claustrophobic.... I just hope those Ducks have similar attitude. won't mind Wings outworking them badly to take the series in 5-6 games. talentwise we may not be the best team in the pool now, but these Wings are flashy, smart and hard working. they are better than most people outside anticipate Edited May 8, 2007 by akustyk

Ducks are well known for their physical play and yours....... not!. For instance the Niedermayer hit that costed the Nucks the game, as we scored off it, cant wait until Chelios gets one of those, i guarantee he will be having retirement thoughts after that one. I'm not getting ahead of myself. in fact, I'm not seeing my team as favorite to win this series. but it't not gonna end in 5 games like some of Ducks fan started predicting. as for physicality of our D-men... we'll see. they made the job done so far and I can see them continue being fine in this department. the problem is with Wings depth on defense but Kronwall was initially supposed to return mid-May. anyway... as I initially said - we'll have to see Game 1 and see how the teams match up against. I totally forgot how tough Duck(s) are, always surviving those shotgun blasts from Elmer Fudd and all. I'll take the Dominator on my team anyday of the week. He may not make the beautiful saves but before this series is over you will have heard the phrase "robbed by Hasek" enough times to give you nightmares. Dont get to ahead of yourself, your defense is known throughout the league as not being physical. Ducks are well known for their physical play and yours....... not!. Correct, our D is known for giving up the fewest SOG. They have also been known to make perfect outlet passes. They also got this guy who year in and year out wins some kind of trophy for being the best in the biz, and as of last night can be a pretty damn good backup goalie. 8 to go for X

Guest LGKRinkrat Report post Posted May 8, 2007 You gotta go with The Booth here. The Duck is a much more physical team than San Jose and they proved it beating them on the ice and in the alley during the regular season. There is an atmosphere of violence in the way they play. If you think Calgary is tougher than Anaheim I ask you to review the tape of Jarome Iginla taking on Franky Beauchemin in last years playoffs and getting one punched right out of town. Look also at the way Anaheim beat down Minnesota and then Vancouver. Both series had moments where the opponent stole some thunder and looked like they could hang with a bigger faster team. But time wore them down. How did the Van series end? With Rob Neidermayer laying out Hansen with a devastating check. But that wasn't unusual. That's how the whole series went. In fact, it was so bad tha Luongo was complaining about it .. and that's why he got scored on. Same thing is gonna happen here. The Wings might stay close for a while, particularly opening at home and having that soft Euro game going for them with Datsyuk flittering around. But in the end Lidstrom is gonna have to stop Selanne, Macdonald and Kunitz and that is going to mean that the PPG line (perrry, peenr Getlzaf) are gonna light up Lilja, Cheliold or whoever else you got. Duck in 3. Bank.

One one punch doesn't actually display how tough your team is...I would bet my house that if Jarome and Francine Beauchemin fought 5 times Iginla would win 4 of them...even the sun shines on a dogs ass somedays!! Great you guys led the league in fighting majors..that does nothing for you this time of year.. and it really does nothing against us because we don't fight....your 4th line will essentially be glued to the bench. One thing Ducks fans seem to be forgetting is that the puck moves a hell of a lot faster than the man so if we are moving the puck quick and controlling the possesion and taking the odd hit to make a play you can't keep up. This is an even match up of two different styles..who can play their style better will win this series.

I think the Wings are good too. I'm not going to be arrogant enough to declare that we will DOMINATE but I think we have what it takes. You are in for a rude awakening. The wings aren't push-overs anymore. They will hit back. And no one is saying Hasek is going to single handedly shut the Ducks down. We have a team defense, not letting many pucks reach Hasek.
